Optics under $150? AR
Vortex strikefire would probably be my choice in that range. Also look at primary arms aimpoint clones.Starve the beast, move to a free state.

The BSA Tactical 1-6X24 from Midway is one of the few scopes in that price range I can recommend. I've run one on an 18" AR for a while now, and have been pretty impressed with it. Excellent glass, simple but effective reticle and true 1X magnification. At the 1X setting, your front sight will be visible through the scope, but past about 2X magnification it will blur out and be invisible. You can get mounts that will clear the front sight post, but you end up with a very high "chin weld" on the stock rather than a "cheek weld". Accuracy typically suffers quite a bit when scopes are mounted in awkward places.U.S. Navy (Retired) 1994-2015Comment

When you say optics...for that price, I think a used set of Troy flip up sights. You won't replace them later for anything else...but you might replace your optic eventually. With Black Friday quickly approaching, you might hold off and get new for that price.
If you actually want something with magnification, I would suggest a 1-4 primary arms:

PA has a couple offerings:
Only problem with that one is battery life.
Just over your budget, and you have to buy a $20 or so mount, but I love both of mine. 5-year battery life.
Absolute co-witness, no need for additional mount. Bigger & heavier, though. 5-year battery life.
BTW: So, if you are looking at 1x optics with iron sights, especially a fixed front sight post, you need to learn the difference between lower 1/3 co-witness and absolute co-witness.

The Bushnell AR scopes for the price are OK and if that is all you have to spend then it will do the job.

If on the cheap a BSA Sweet .223 is a great option. I bought the 6~18 for $54 from Natchez.
I hit 600 yards easily with it on a $159 Del-ton 20" 1/9 barrel. I do a hell of a lot better with that than my Daniel Defense does fitted with an Aimpoint C3.
If I need to hit 800 yards, I might spend a bit more. 300 yards is too easy with it.Comment

I have to agree, they are decent optics for the price. Got one on a 5.56 ar-15. Has held zero pretty well through several range trips and over 600 rounds. Admittedly though, the Leupold mount it is in cost nearly half of what the scope cost.
They are one of those things where it's good enough until it isn't and then you'll upgrade.Comment
