they literally just came out. I got mine today, and really enjoyed using it. It was quick to zero and provides a great view. Even nicer when combined with their 3x LER Magnifier. The only thing I would change are the electronic push buttons. I do prefer a mechanical dial.

I hear you on that, but to be honest, with that battery life, I just plan to leave it on medium and change the battery every year or two (it should get to five years or so, but I like to refresh batteries long before they get used up).

Should be the first one to put it through a torture test too

I own both and the Eotech is pretty hard to kill, just like an Aimpoint. An Eotech can be mounted on .50 bmg if you wanted to. They also keep working if part of the glass is busted out just like Aimpoint. The battery life is main advantage for an Aimpoint, but the Eotech is the fastest sight I have ever used.

The only issue I ever had was with a 552 I purchased in 08. It was tough to change the batteries, due to the contacts being crap. They have sorted that problem out now.

Shooting targets at night was ridiculously easy, and fun with the 552.

I've actually shot a .50 BMG with an EOTech on top it, so I can attest to that!

What makes the EO faster than the aimpoint? Just the wider FOV, or the 1moa dot plus the 65?

Slightly larger FOV and that 65 MOA circle makes for a quick transition on targets. Just put the big circle on the center and start firing. When firing longer distances I still feel the 65 MOA circle hinders a little since it covers so much of the target. That's where I think the aimpoint takes the advantage. With a little practice one can be just as fast with the 2 MOA dot on an aimpoint.

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, what are you shooting at "longer distances" that is more than 65 MOA wide/tall? At 100 yards, that's 5'5" in diameter! What exactly is it obscuring? The target's forehead and ankles? At 125 yards, that 65 MOA is easily larger than 99% of the population of the earth.

That sounds like a pretty "tall" tale, unless you are shooting at elephants or you define "longer distances" as 50 yards.

When I say longer distance I mean 100+. It's easier to use a 2 MOA dot to get good hits at that distance for me.

Well, if it works for you, it works. It doesn't make any sense to me why a larger dot would make distance shooting easier, but as they say:

It's only a 1 MOA difference between the center dot of the eotech and the aimpoint. When you dial the brightness down it even seems to make the 2 MOA dot smaller. The 65 MOA ring just seems to clutter the sight picture up for me and my eyes arnt what they used to be.

Hogwash! I have both an Eotech and Aimpoint pro.

Eotech dot is 1 MOA, the PRO is a 2 MOA dot. Eotech dot is half the size of Aimpoint. I prefer the Eotech over Aimpoint, personally.

The one thing i really like about the PRO is the lens cap is transparent in the back, so you don't need to flip it up to use if you wish to

Hmm... when folks say the Eotech obscures their sight picture... I have to think they haven't really used an Eotech or used it very much anyhow. The circle is SO large and thin and far away from the center dot that I can't imagine what it would obscure that is anywhere near the center dot.

Not sure how big these things they're hitting are at 100 yards or so... but there is a CLEAR difference between the holographic 1moa center dot of an Eotech and the 2moa red dot on an aimpoint.

The Eotech is much better for shooting groups...

Of course, not sure why anyone would be shooting groups with a red dot. :P
