I have used and still own several Leapers scopes on my air rifles. They are air rifle specific scopes designed to handle recoil in two different directions. Most of them have failed in one form or another from not holding zero to simply falling apart and the adjustable objective ranges are completely inaccurate even on identical model scopes they do not adjust the same amount when compared side by side.
I have friends who have used the conventional Leapers scopes on small
caliber rimfire rifles with similar results. There is absolutely no way I would ever trust anything under the Leapers marquee to hold up to any powder burner cartridge especially a .308
The bottom line is there are several things in life where you do get what you pay for:
1. Optics
2. Motorcycle Suspension
3. Women
4. Divorce AttorneysComment

Calling BS on 3-4.
Had numerous buddies go through divorces and hired $$$$ attorneys only to get royally screwed by both the wife and the attorney. I also disagree with the woman thing. The best chics are free. Nothing good comes with an expensive woman, NOTHING!

ROTFLMAOANL
Had plenty of buddies that had to have those expensive *****es. Those are the buddies that went through the mega-expensive divorces and lost EVERYTHING including future earnings, kids, houses, jobs, cars etc. If you are EXTREMELY lucky the biatch doesn't file battery charges, a restraining order and you get hit with a DV losing your gun rights FOREVER!
You can keep those high priced whores all to yourself. Have no need for them! Post a pic of the expensive hottie your with maybe some of the guys will recognize her from the bar. Remember one thing, you never loose your high priced whore you just loose your turn.
Take it from an Old guy, wanna be happy all your life make an average woman your wife. Leave the "hotties" for the suckers who like losing it all and having tons of headaches. The high maintenance women are not worth it.
A wise old Marine buddy of mine told me, if it flys, fornicates or floats you are better off renting it.Last edited by problemchild; 11-09-2013, 10:13 PM.Comment

Trijicon was probably not thinking about a .308 battle rifle. Maybe a crew served machine gun. It would be excellent for that I suppose. I'm no mil guy, but I do follow the industry. That scope is beauty and a beast.sigpicC'mon man, shouldn't we ban Democracks from Cal-Guns? Or at least send them to re-education camps.Comment

A good friend of mine says if it has wheels, wings, props or tits your going to have problems with it.

I agree with your statement. My take, given that I've lived through it all, is that you do the hotties while you are young. Enjoy the wild ones, but do not marry them.
Instead find a good women you can TRUST, who has a good family, who loves you, and is not going to be a financial pain. She doesn't have to be gorgeous, they almost all lose their hot status along the way. And get married with the intention of staying married.
Otherwise you will have to make the same stupid mistakes I and many of my friends have made. Divorces are just like flushing money down the crapper and stabbing yourself in the heart. Avoid it.sigpicC'mon man, shouldn't we ban Democracks from Cal-Guns? Or at least send them to re-education camps.Comment

As for scopes, It always comes down to trade offs. Weight, ruggedness, magnification, and flexibility. It all depends on what you want to do.
For me and my personal needs, I never build my semi-auto rifles too heavy as I expect to carry them and never expect to stay in one place too long.
For .308 semi-auto I do a light build and a medium build. Light to 200 yards, medium to 600 yards, no more than 8x or 10X to keep the weight down.
So it just depends on what you want to do.
The perfect scope for me would be a 1-8X FFP that weighs less than 20 ounces WITH mount. It would have a QD mount that allowed it to be removed for use as a hammer, and re-installed with no loss of zero.
It would not have a battery, it would be powered by the rifle recoil. Or it would be powered by the heat recovered from the barrel which would be converted to electrical energy.
Until this scope is available I will be all about compromise.sigpicC'mon man, shouldn't we ban Democracks from Cal-Guns? Or at least send them to re-education camps.Comment

I did watch a video last night of a sporting a TA648 and it looks like that is the application they meant that scope for. Again, it is huge and admittedly I did not research it enough. I'm now looking at a TA11. Just need to decide between a crosshair or horseshoe.
