    Acog 3.5 or 4 for .308?

I know the eye relief Is longer on 3.5 - are there any other considerations? I need something to throw in the scar 17 for now until I can do so,e more research and I love the two ta31's I have on my AR's. Any insight or thoughts for a the better choice in optic for the scar between the two powers?

If weight is a concern, might want to look at the 3x TA33. Long eye relief like the TA11, but much smaller and compact.

Neither. Shoot irons and save up for a Trijicon VCOG 1-6. Now that would be a perfect SCAR17 optic.

What about the Elcan Specter DR 1-6 .308 BDC?

I'm not impressed with what I've read. I'd prob opt for the Elcan Spectre at that price point. And battery operated?!? Nah. What I love is the tritium/weight aspect of the acogs. I think I would pass on the VCOG

That's what I'm thinking but kinda wanted to put my hands on one before I spring for $2500 worth of glass.

I run both the ACOG TA-31(which like you absolutely love) clear, lightweight and tough. Also run the Elcan Specter DR 1-4 on my Noveske builds. The Elcan glass is friggin unbelievably superb and the quick throw lever from 1 to 4 power is awesome. However, its not cheap and HEAVY, but absolutely love it. I recently got a LWRC REPR and have been going nuts too what optic to get. I think we have done biz before, is your nickname ducky and deal with glockworx? Anyways, I think Bravo Tac in Encino has the Elcan 1-6 in stock, maybe we could convince them to let us demo it and some other optics and we could hit Angeles?

Ha, yeah we have met! And I was coming from Glockwerx. I don't know how you're gonna get a $2500 optic on loan but I'm in!

I think you would want more magnification to really get the full potential out of your 308. At least 6X to get consistent hits at extended distance targets....just my .02

Just make sure you buy a model that is designated for "Bindon Aiming Concept" if you want to shoot both eyes open. The BAC models have reticles that are designed for this purpose and they (may) have longer eye relief.

You may be able to shoot BAC with the other models but the reticle may be a bit small.

Also if memory serves, the TA11E is the model that works best on a SCAR 17S. It has a .308 reticle designed to support BAC.

I looked at all the Trijicon scopes a couple years ago for my SCAR 17 and decided instead to get more magnification. I ended up with a NightForce NXS 2.5-10X on a AD Delta mount (best mount for the SCAR IMHO).

I just added another and on this I will go short range and lightweight.

BTW in case you are new to the SCAR, I would buy a Geiselle Super SCAR trigger even before I bought a scope. It makes THAT much difference.

Finally, the SCAR LOVES heavier rounds especially 168 grain.

                      Enjoy
sigpicC'mon man, shouldn't we ban Democracks from Cal-Guns? Or at least send them to re-education camps.

I believe the VCOG will come in considerably cheaper than the ELCAN 1X 6X when they finally start rolling out in volume. And you'll want to get rid of the ARMS mount on the ELCAN if they are still using it.

I don't know where you read that the VCOG is not very good. I've scoured the forums and there is still very little written about them by ACTUAL USERS who have any credibility and not just the usual whiners.

But you can find serious folks who've had problems with the ELCAN in the past.

                          Good luck.

Yeah, the funky n batteries of something. The VCOG uses AA I think, which would be an advantage. Energizer Lithium AA bats are excellent.
