I would agree with LBDamned
Just picked up a Weaver Tactical 3-15x50 with EMDR illuminated reticle for just over $1k from amazon. It will end up on my newly built long range AR 308 rifle. Have been using it on the AR15 at the 100 yard range, very comfortable to use and no tools required for zeroing. Did a lot of research and it seemed to fit the bill. Will let you know how it works out. Long range will really tell how well the scope works and how well it returns to zero.
I had some help in selecting this scope from Rex in a Youtube channel Sniper 101. Here is a table Rex created in scope selection. Very helpful, also watch the video in his series on Optics Selection.
Weaver tactical 3-15x50 is ridiculously overlooked!
beats the snot out of Vortex 4-16x50 (sorry Vortex fans, but that scope sux! - yes I know, 6-24x50 is supposedly better)
Weaver glass is uncommonly clear (made in Japan) and with FFP and illumination - at its price-point, its really, REALLY hard to beat!
