@crufflers Actually for moving a bino or biocular PVS7 is going to have better depth perception vs a mono 14 so navigating/moving is going to be more natural, although with time you'll get your night legs and move just as well. Having both eyes aided and your NODs moved forward it's easy to read lighting conditions. The other advantage to a bino/biocular is the ability to drive at highway speeds something that is almost impossible to do at 10 MPH with a PVS14. A PVS14 is great because it's packable, gets 50hrs on a single AA battery, light weight so using it for extended periods of time is not a problem. A PVS7 is the poorman's bino that can have a up to date Gen3 tube, retains its value, still used by our military as well as others, has better depth perception vs a mono. Binos are generally lighter/smaller vs a PVS7, some can be used with external battery packs, articulating models fold flatter against your helmet, and are look great for IG pics.

Was hanging with some boys in the bush in GA at night hunting hog and they had some impressive gear. Like, made it look like high noon impressive. Don't know what they were, the guy who had them left early, but I remember thinking "wtf?!" when pitch black night turned to noon instantly. I was using ATN. Worked fine for me. The digital zoom leaves a little wanting. But I could see plainly and they performed great all night.

of course it isn't the best, but it works well enough.
the illuminator that comes with it isn't great, but it would work for close up.
with a dbal d2, you can see pretty far. unfortunately i live in the middle of the city so there isn't really many places close by i can demo it very well.

somebody else's demo. the 4k version is much sharper and records sound.

Not inexpensive, 1/2mil@100 day AND night. Worth every penny when they come at night.
