Budget red dots are pretty great nowadays. Holosun, Vortex, PA in general are BUDGET BRANDS. They make good stuff. I love my Vortex Sparc AR's and Strikefires, Burris FF's, and the Crossfire RD-1 keeps up to those others IMHO. Crossfire magnified optics are not the clearest or brightest IMHO, but the RD-1 is good.

There are plenty of crappy dots but you usually have to go to tasco, BSA, Sightmark, generic chinese like NC STAR, Monstrum, etc... to get to the real stinkers.

If you stick to the suggestions in this thread I think you'll be fine. The premiums I see as worth it are for specialty dots like a circle dot. I'd pay more for a Holosun circle dot reticle because I want one.

The real premium micros are the Aimpoint Micros like the $750 T2 where they have absolutely no parallax error and super clear glass.

Yeah I understand in the world of optics things can get very expensive and I get the Holosun I purchase isnt the greatest. But based on the reviews I read and YouTubes videos it seems to be a decent sight for the price. I like how it has the ACSS, which ultimately steered me to purchase

this article was always convincing as it survived a pretty bad torture test:

I wasn't trying to say it isn't the greatest. I was saying there are a lot of great RDS. Holosun is one of them. Lots of people including myself will not spend $750 on a T2. I don't have a Holosun, but I want one (with the circle dot).

I was also pointing out that a RD-1 is pretty good. I like mine. I have plenty of RDS that work for me that I like that cost under $200 street price.

I will check that out later. IMHO my Aimpoint PRO is the toughest I own IMHO. I have a bunch of Trijicon and honestly the jury is out. I think they have issues. Nothing that's a deal breaker for me the way I shoot...

I won't be able to break my Aimpoint, but I bet I won't be able to break my $125 Vortex Sparc AR's either... know what I mean?

At the $750 I would rather purchase another firearm, so I hear ya. The HS503G having the ACSS was the deciding reason I went wit it.

You might want to take a look at at the new Nikon SPUR also for your price range. Great reviews and it has a large window for a micro reflex sight.

This is great information, thank you!
All depends which vortex you buy.

Just reaching out to see if any of you guys who have personally had these red dots can provide more information to steer my decision on which one I should purchase.

Before you run out and buy one, do you have an astigmatism. It plays havoc with red dots.

This Nikon is a nice looking RDS.

Primary Arms AMD would be at the top of my list.

That is a great looking scope, similar appearance to the fast fire burris.

I run the Burris Fast Fire III on my Salient M2 Shotgun, one mounted offset
on my JP AR and 1 on my JP GMR13 9MM AR. They have held up well for me.
Great dot for good price. Battery is easy to change. I have a Leupold Delta Point, older model on my M&P 9 open gun. Not looking forward to changing battery on that one, have to remove from slide and then sight in again. New ones that is not required.
If you can't shoot good, at least look good shooting

                                Hey guys -

This maybe the wrong forum to ask but,

If I was interested in building a PCC rifle, is it the same laws as my AR (i.e. fixed mag, featureless, high cap mags)?
