what kind of charger would you need for those AW batteries?

Im looking to get into rechargeables for my lights but my past experience growing up with cheapo nicad left a bitter taste in my mouth. I know new battery techonolgy flat out blows ncads out of the water but its also very confusing and pricey.

Also... ive noticed that with my Fenix P1d and surefire M3, if i leave the batteries in them for some time, I will find the batteries very low if not dead. I do unscrew the cap quite a ways but that doesnt seem to stop the drain... Anyway to prevent this?

Go to the CPF batteries and electronics forum - http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/...isplay.php?f=9 - and check the posts on batteries and chargers. There are lots of good chargers out there, but it's a lot more complicated than it used to be.

Are you using rechargeables in the Fenix and SF now? They self-discharge, unless you get LSD (low self discharge) batteries.

Some multi-mode flashlights have a parasitic drain due to the control circuitry, and will slowly draw down the batteries. I haven't noticed this with my Fenix lights, even after sitting for months, but haven't read up on it either.

ETA - a quick search on CPF shows that the regular Fenix lights don't have parasitic drain (the new TK20 has some, I believe), except for some that had problems with a bad tailcap o-ring. It didn't say how to figure it out, but that removing the o-ring would get rid of the problem. I haven't verified this, but plenty of people at CPF echoed it.

I'm not using rechargeables right now but i still notice a slow drain with the surefire. Its the normal incan light.

yeah... ive actually been a member on CPF. a lot of the newer battery stuff is just over my head. Im a business major, not an electrical engineer. haha
