EGW Rails - Anyone Use Them?

I stumbled upon THIS RAIL when looking for a mounting solution for optics on a Remington 700.

I didn't see any reviews here at CG.net, but found some favorable reviews on Google.

$40 for a 15 or 20 MOA rail seems like a good price. I have Leupold QD rings and 2 piece mounts on my current 700 - put there a few years ago after the original Burris rings gave up. I've been pretty happy with the Leupy QD's, but I was thinking to try something new on this gun.

Anyone seen them? Tried them? Heard of them?

    Any feedback is appreciated.

Heard great reviews. Just ordered some up for the Tikka in 223 so I got 0 MOA as I wont e shooting beyond 3-4oo yards. Says 0 MOa is good up too 5-600 yards.

Thanks for the input. Please post a review when you get it mounted up and shoot with it. Things like fit and finish, ease of installation, ease of loading / unloading, overall appearance once mounted, any problems or things you really like. I'm sure others will ask the same questions once word get's out.

Says 0 MOa is good up too 5-600 yards.
That is a good rule of thumb. How much additional elevation you need is really a function of the ballistics for a given load and available elevation adjustment in the given scope. Some bullets drop faster than others, some scopes allow more adjustment than others.

I agree that your .223 should have no problems to the distances listed with a standard (0 MOA) base.

        Happy shooting.

I have the EGW 20MOA SA base for my Rem 700 and it works great. The finish hasn't wore off after installing/removing my scope a couple times. I don't find loading the rifle any more difficult than it was originally.

                Dwarf,

You're welcome to check out my EGW 20 moa base next time you're in town. You were going to come shoot up at the cabin.... right....... right

I put one on my .308 rem 700. Be sure to ask for #8 screws when you order a base from them (they come with #6 screws). Receiver takes #8. You'll have to enlarge the base holes via drill (2 minutes) but you can't see them once the #8's are in place. Finish and quality are well worth the price.

                Talk to you soon.

The last time I shot at your cabin, you got all pissy and said something about holes in the walls, it not being safe and ... Oh... you mean, go to the cabin, and do some shooting. Gotcha. Sounds like a plan.

Too bad I wasn't in the market for a rail when I was over last month. I would have taken a look at it then. This deal kind of happened quickly.

                    Marcelo,

I don't have any input on the EGW rings, but I have a pair of Warne rings on a rifle and am pretty pleased with them... and they're about half the cost of the EGW rings. That's what I was figuring to buy for the 700 when I get good glass for it (to start, I'll be using a scope and rings that are taking up shelf space).

Funny how the cost of the gun is never the end of it. You need to buy tooling to reload, brass, new components, optics, etc...

If you feel like heading up to Manteca this, or next weekend, I think there might be BBQ and range time in it for you. I don't cook a pork shoulder like yourself (the master), but I can tell the chef to get something ready for us. You could check out the base then if you only have an afternoon.

I'm thinking the Bushnell Elite 3200 and XTR rings for mine. Might even have it lapped and built depending on weekend you want to swing up.

Any thoughts yet on the rings/scope/sling you'll pick up?

Never tried the EGW rings... but since my base was aluminum I went with some aluminum Burris XTR rings and they're working great. Just a bit on the large side though.
