That's exactly how I did it, if I were to turn the titanium adjusting bolt any tighter, the RS-303 will not slide over the optics rail any more. I left it at the point the RS mount would barely slide in, to the point I have to hit it with my palm to go in.
I have the feeling how forward I mount the scope just puts too much leverage on the RS-303, but when Horse sends me a replacement mount, I will try mounting the scope further back as long as the eye relief still allows me to shoot it the way I shoot it.
I really want to have this setup work. I really don't want to alter the rifle too much, like having the KOP installed.sigpic

So finally I caved in and used a different mounting system. I contacted Sabrewerks for the new KOP system and sent off my VEPR. Fred took good care of me. He fitted his KOP system, concentrically threaded the barrel and added a Precision Armament M11 muzzle brake.

You shouldn't mount the rings next to adjustment knobs. It's bad for your internals especially if you crank down on your rings. Can DI AR's run dirty?

The Saberworks KOP is the best setup I have used.
Check out Mac's video. He does a much better job of explaining the Saberworks mount than I can.

How's the cheek weld?
I like the foam and duct tape method and make my own custom cheek riser. Works great.sigpicComment

Are you referring to my first RS Regulate set up or the current KOP set up? It seems the distance between rings on Sabrewerks' Magnified Optic mount is fixed, so one has to tighten the rings where they are. I sure hope when the rings are torqued to the specifications, there will be little deformation on the scope tube.
Fixed the link for you
What scope are you running on yours? I considered using the KOP on another rifle, a training/class rifle, but I am running a Browe BCO on it, so decided on a Zenitco rail. For now.
My VEPR or Twystd1's rifle? I'm still waiting for mine to arrive at my work (no worries, guys, I'm not a disgruntled employee, but I can be a mean boss LOL). I'm thinking if the cheekweld is poor, I'd go for one of these:
from ITC Markmanship.
