Unissued Swedish Mauser on Gunbroker. (not mine.)

Great looking rifle! The red colored stock is beautiful. The "72" tag is not a locker number, it indicates an inspection date. After the rifles were placed into storage, armorers would inspect the rifles, and place the tape with the year so they could tell when the rifle was last inspected. So your rifle was last inspected in 1972, and then imported into the US probably in the 90's.This the best I can do with my 96/38 1905 rifle. The barrel appears to be new inside and the wood has a few dings but overall I am pleased. Mine has a 72 locker tag. Mine appears to have seen some use, and is no where near the condition of the above link. The only difference is that I paid around $129 for that mauser back in the early 90's.
No way am I selling!

It's cool that you left the tag on, as most guys ripped them off as soon as they got them home!!!!
Yes, during the conversion the barrels were replaced, and the stock was either replaced, or cut down to m/38 specs. Based on that stocks condition I would guess it was replaced.
Yeah Fed Ord / Briklee was THE place for C&R military stuff. I bought literally hundreds of guns from them. (Wish I had bought more)..Back in the late 80s,I used to frequent Federal Ordinance (later called Briklee trading) in So Elmonte. They had imported hundreds of swedes. They were pieced around $90 to $140 (if I remember correctly) They had many that looked as close to new as the posted rifle. I could kick myself for not picking up a few of them.
Fliers from Fed Ord with Swedish Mauser's

I'll bet you have more than a few beautiful Husqvarna m/38's...
As far as value. I've never seen a CG conversion m/38 sell for anything near what a all matching Huskie will bring...
Maybe because I've never seen a all stamped matching CG conversion..
The rifle in this auction will probably bring around $500.00 What will hold it back, is it's not all matching... Basically it's a run of the mill CG conversion with a very pretty stock...Last edited by SVT-40; 01-15-2015, 4:21 PM.Poke'm with a stick!

Relating to the ads, what is an American Eagle Mauser? I've heard of the Lugers, but never the Mauser rifles. Does anyone even have one of these?"Let him that is without stone among you cast the first thing he can lay his hands on." -Robert FrostComment

I saw one in a gun shop a few years back. It looked like a pimped up military rifle. I suspect the stock and barrel were NOS Israeli 7.62 parts. Pretty sure it had a bent bolt. Workmanship struck me as mediocre, like something cheesy Santa Fe would have built when they ran out of Enfields to make fake Jungle Carbines out of. Mauser action of unknowable pedigree, so I didn't even consider it.

I've seen several and they have always struck me as possibly being Spanish 98 actions. Probably not bad, but, really...what is the point?I saw one in a gun shop a few years back. ^ Way too much for it honestly. GB for the inflated price. Probably a 50% it will be up again for a deadbeat bidder, lol.Originally posted by doggieSomeone must put an end to this endless bickering by posting the unadulterated indisputable facts and truth."The California matrix of gun control laws is among the harshest in the nation and are filled with criminal law traps for people of common intelligence who desire to obey the law." - U.S. District Judge Roger T. I did say steal at $750, but one thing bugged me about that rifle. The upper hand-guard had that crazy seam on both sides, You could tell the fitment wasn't quite right. If I pay that much I want a "10" with out a wart. Still beautiful rifle though.Calguns Contributor

More like a "steal" at $350... Because if you paid more than that you got scammed...
Kind of like a pretty girl with VD.... Looks good, but when you look deeper all you find are problems and issues....
