Go check the Century Arms YouTube video's.
      They are becoming a manufacturer.
The C39 and C39 V2 are where they are concentrating a lot of effort.
They sold off a lot of their "build" kits and parts to APEX.
If you really look around my web site you will see what I mean!
I have a whole lot of parts still to get listed and up for sale.

Makes sense it a supply issue. A stroke of the pen by One Big Asse Mistake and whoosh, no more Mosins , among other stuff. The Tula primers I've grown fond of soon to be a thing of the past.

Another casualty of political policy. and just the tip of the iceberg.

A couple swipes of a pen and instead of a flood of nice imports to exercise our 2nd amdmt, we get a flood of lawbreakers to support with our taxes.

Rant aside, its too bad about Big5. they had a lot of good stuff go through there in their heyday. I think of all the $59 and $79 Mosins Enfield's Styers Mausers Sks's. Passed a lot of good ones up. But got some good ones. Later when I was more into c+r I got to know the manager and he would have the cherry picked ones in the back for the collectors or buddies.

I really regret all the times I didn't buy those cheap milsurp guns. Always seemed to have good prices on them too.

They are cornering the market on cheapo rimfires, bargain basement hunting rifles, low end shotguns, $5 knives, overpriced ammo, airsoft stuff, pup-tents, and athletic supporters.

Who wants to deal with all those greasy old C&R's and risk getting cosmoline on freshly pressed Dockers? Hanging out by the running shoes and chatting up the soccer moms over by the Pilates mats all pays the same.

It's a sad sign, there are quite a few here on the board that got their C&R start with a Big 5 Mosin. We could be seeing the tail end of the widely available C&R era. If fewer rifles are being imported, the only place to get them will mostly be through online dealers. I miss those days when all the gun stores were awash in old rifles and you could pick your rifle out of a large selection.

                  A Mosin shortage? I don't think so.

So how come people here have been telling me for years that most of the ComBloc C&Rs have been coming from Ukraine, not Russia? Supply should be unaffected as far as the Russian blockage, but perhaps the salt mines of Ukraine haven been tapped out? But I guess that doesn't take into account all of the Molot guns, I know I have several and I guess those did come directly from Russia?

I believe Molot guns do come directly from on Russia.

I believe the Molot rifles are coming out of Russia. If importation of these rifles has stopped, then we will see a reduced supply in the marketplace. I don't know how the supply is coming out of the Ukraine. Is it being tapped out or just slowed down due to hostilities with Russia?

I guess we will see. Glad I got into C&Rs a few years ago and saw the tail end of the age of C&Rs. While prices have been much higher than they were just a few short years ago, they have been reasonable enough to acquire a decent collection. I bought my first 91/30 two and a half years ago from Big 5 for $89.00 on sale. We have had a faucet with hot and cold running Mosins, tons of SKS, plenty of Enfields, etc. It will be sad if we are at the end of an era, a lot of people think we are, that there will still be plenty of C&Rs around but we are slowly heading toward the same sort of market that machine gun owners have, which is a limited supply and no more being made, albeit we have millions of C&Rs versus a few hundred thousand machine guns available.

We all know there will be plenty of C&Rs in general but the 50 year old era we are coming up (1965) to means that all of the guns that could be considered new milsurps to us will be off limits since they are mostly select fire? It's funny though, many of the SKS and Mosins I bought a year and two years ago are now selling for less than I paid. So much for profit potential ;-)

After you pay too much for one because you think they are drying up .The market will get flooded with a new batch and the price will crash.
