I will get a few pics for you AG as soon as I can. Looking at a few weeks until moved. I do have a cheap stand I believe it was from cabalas also. I will get pics and dimensions as well when it is a bit easier to get to. Sorry for the promise and slow delivery.

Hey not a problem, moving is more of a priority than this other stuff. Leaving Winters fer a cooler climate like Dixon or Liberty Island maybe?

Any thoughts on the 45Colt or 45 ACP conversion cylinders? Been reading some comments on various forums and Brownells, Midway$$$, etc.
The two piece cylinder conversion seems the easiest and least expensive.
I've got a friend that reloads for Cowboy Action Shooting already, he's reloaded some of my 45ACP for my 1911 also.

If you look and see the small piece at the base of the stand that is for when you want to use the stand to display a firearm.
AG let me know if you get yours. Forgot the email is available by chick your name.

Excellent plans! If you're interested in making your own loading stand then have Tom e-mail you the plans. They're very detailed and include a list of parts and their sizes so you can print it out and take it with you to the hardware store.

I sent those plans to my brother in IL., he's the "woodworker" in the family. He thinks it's fairly easy. Says it can be made out of 3/8 plywood or 1/2 red oak. Says he's going to make one out of red oak for me.

Also found a source for "presentation cases" I've ordered a couple to see how they look. They fit up an 8.5 bbl, and come either "antiqued" or standard finished top, I believe he said rosewood. When I get them I'll post photos.

Also Regarding Cabelas BP Starter Kits, they now have 2 styles, the old one with the black plastic crappy powder flask is now $20 cheaper than the "new" kit which has a better nipple wrench AND a flask which is black plastic but has a metal brass colored top with spout and powder gate, like a regular powder flask which is selling at the higher price $65ish. My guess is they had enough complaints about that crappy old style kit and powder flask they upgraded things and are selling the older ones cheaper to get rid of them, still ain't worth $45. I saw this all at Cabelas Reno yesterday, also all of the those 6 BP revolvers they had instock for months are finally gone and the endcap where they were is loaded with decoys.

Fella I got the presentation cases says Pietta firearms are in short supply and will be for awhile, the factory in Italy is closed for vacation and they won't start producing new stock until sometime in Aug. So it will take time for them to fill all the orders they have on hold while the factory is closed.

Got mine yesterday. I have to say, the Uberti 1858 I have (with the long barrel) has a much, much nicer trigger. Gonna figure out what to polish and improve in this one.

Shots per pound (using black powder):

.31 pocket colts (Wells Fargo, 1849 Baby dragoon, etc.) 13 grains
.36 medium frame colts, e.g. Colt Navy ("belt pistol") 29 grains
.44 (e.g. Colt Army, Remington New Army) 37 grains
.44 Dragoon ("horse pistol") 48 grains
.44 Walker ("horse pistol") 57 grains

By the way the 1860 Colt Army is a medium belt size pistol that shoots a 'horse pistol' round. That is why it looks streamlined, Colt had to cut the frame and round it off in order to fit the monster cylinder in a medium frame gun. The Army loved it and purchased 129,000 from Colt for the civil war. Lot of guns when you consider the infantry was not issued pistols.

1 pound of powder has 7000 grains.

                      Walker: 7000/57 = 122 rounds (20 cylinders full)
                      .31 Baby 7000/13 = 538 rounds (107 cylinders full)
