Bobby try the 1" Millett rings, I'll bet they will fit. Measure the tube diameter with a caliper to be sure.

          Scope Ring Question

I have a question for the experts on mounting the scope. I'm using the Millett Angle-loc rings and one of them is out of square by .036" when I lock it down. It is enough to be noticeable to my eye and creates a tight fit for the scope. (Something must be milled slightly off with one of the locking mechanisms that is causing this.) Is this ring off too much to try to fix it? If so, should I see about sending the rings back to Midway or Millett for a replacement? If it won't create a problem and damage the scope tube should I just lap it a bit to help even it out so it won't mar the scope's finish?

Is it a steel scope tube? Are the rings steel?

It's a 7/8" scope, right? Those can be a ***** to find. I know some manufacturers offer adapters for 1" rings, they are little aluminum shim rings.

How is the height of the scope? I found the bell to be touching the irons on my first ring purchase, I kept having to step upwards. All these dovetail mounts seem to be made for .22 stuff, I went with a third ring to help support that 7.5 recoil.

The scope is 6061 T6 aircraft quality aluminum, the rings are steel.

I think I got everything figured out now and was able to mount and bore sight the scope tonight. That should hopefully at least put me on paper at 100 yards, looking forward to Sunday's shoot.

What did you have to do to correct the problem?

I removed the rail locking mechanisms and swapped them around. I think one of them was getting hung up on the screw head and it caused it to make the sight mout more crooked on the rail. It's not perfectly straight, but it's much closer than it was. I also put the tape strips inside the top and bottom rings (thanks to CEDaytonaRydr for letting me know about them). I thought it was packing material because they tape strips aren't mentioned in the instructions so luckily they didn't get tossed. The tape helps protects the scope tube from scratches even though the rings aren't perfectly squared. I need to find an inch/pounds torque screwdriver with an Allen attachment to verify that I tightened the screws enough (or that I didn't over tighten them). I figure after about 5 shots, I should be able to know if any screws will come loose or not.

No problem! Glad I could help...

For the record, if anyone is planning on using the Angle-Loc rings, keep that in mind. They don't come with instructions, so it's not very clear if you haven't used them before. That being said, they're great rings, and mount very fast since no lapping is required. For Ruger M77 owners, they're a godsend! Ruger's proprietary mounts are garbage...
