Scoping a K31

Thank you for the advice. I just scooped a scope from Ebay that I hope will be good for the K31. It is a Weaver K4-60B. Old school skinny scope in great shape. I also got the (I think) correct Millet low mount rings for the Swiss mount.

Oh, and SWFA is great. I bought 2 Redfield Battlezones from them for my 20" AR's.

Thanks. I totally forgot that I had bidded on a different one earlier, and I got that one too. This one is a Weaver "K6 60, El Paso Texas" Looks like it is near new.

Good thing I have two K31's. Looks like they will both get glassed

Go big or go home as they say. Got 180 rounds of GP11 dropped at my door today too. This Swiss business is getting expensive.

The ammo costs drop a bit once you are set up for reloading. It's hard to beat the accuracy of the GP11 though without paying a premium for VLD bullets.

I am pretty sure I got the right glass. I know I got the right mount. As far as the rings, it is a straight up shot in the dark and I'll be amazed if they are the right ones

I am hitting this ammo at about .60 per round and will go through it pretty slow. Got about 500 rounds stashed. Of course you are correct about reloading but most of my rifle shooting is with commie milsurps. The reloading setup is going to be down the road a bit, like after I retire (11) years and leave KA in my rear view.

I was going to mount the scope but I guess I need to polish the rings first to keep from marring the finish of the scope. I don't have an emery cloth so I'll have to pick one up this weekend to do the polishing.

I am going to have a problem fitting it into the safe. With the rings on it just barely fits, once the scope is mounted, the rifle behind it will have to move out to make room for it. I guess until I get a new safe, I'm going to have to take one or two rifles and store them in the closet and keep the bolts in the safe.

I remove my scope to fit the rifle into the safe. The scope mount has a single screw which makes removing and remounting simple. As Guisan previously noted, be sure to push the mount all the way forward - that helps to return the scope to zero. You may need to adjust your scope turrets slightly but you will certainly be back on target.

I bought the steel mount last year only because the aluminum was out of stock. Works great but adds some weight.

The clamp is awesome. The rings fit perfectly on the mount. The Scope body is not the right size for the mounts. The mounts are way too large.

Back to the drawing board....
