SKS variant wish list

I do like my Chinese security forces version. Unusual in that it has newer and older features such as a milled trigger group yet a pinned as opposed to a threaded barrel. However, it is all matching. Some securities also have the threaded barrels. Overall finish is nicer, maybe because they were meant to be carried in public....nicer appearance. This one from factory 016.
I am curious if that Precision Degree Rifle of SVT-40 has a pinned or threaded barrel.Last edited by Dan_Eastvale; 04-30-2017, 9:48 AM.Comment

Securities can bid for $400+ when they do show up. Or cheaper when the seller doesn't realize it's a security.... (just another sks)

Back in the late 80's and early 90's
It's pinned. Arsenal 416. Box is also marked with the Chinese characters, and the rifle is not import marked... I bought it and another PDG directly from the importer, Thomas Yu owner and president of Thomas Trans-National Corp. Thomas was the actual importer who then sold the remaining rifles to Val Forgett, who was the owner of Navy Arms....I do like my Chinese security forces version. The back side of the letter from TT Nat Corp

Yup it was once mine... Funny the guy who bought it from me said he would never part with it......Two weeks later he sold it to you. I guess I sold it way to cheap.....But in ended up in good hands so I'm very happy about that!!!!Poke'm with a stick!

Found a security force SKS and am going through talks now trying to get it to a reasonable price.
This was a lot of good info on the Chinese and it's definitely grown my want list. What about Russians? What are the different variants that are most collectable?Comment

Every year of production, and from both arsenals...No refurbished rifles.Poke'm with a stick!

You are much too kind. I have a peculiar fascination and admiration for the SKS that goes above all other C&R weapons.Do you have a further breakdown? You have good taste which is why I ask. For Chicoms I have:
Sub-5 digit sterile Sino Soviet
Letter prefix Sino Soviet
Soviet Sino if I ever come across one
Matching of course with the side rear sling swivels of course. I'd be interested to see what you value in true Russians.
I have sold off all the ones I was meh about or unhappy with the condition or various flaws. I want shooters, but I like nice shooters. Therefore I have no beaters or mixmasters or bubbas anymore. What's left is the cream of the crop and forever off the market. And despite my year end pronouncements, I cannot stop looking for interesting SKS rifles as finances permit.
Here is what I have, all of which are considered 'prized' to me.
Late model Norinco with blade bayonet
1960's era factory /26\ (I think), as new, all matching, still in light cosmo
Security Forces SKS
Paratrooper (Just bought)
Unfired, matching unrefurbed Romanian i
All matching Romanian, perfect condition, but refinished stock (looks good), delightful shooter
Yugo 59/66
Yugo 59/66 Bought new drenched in cosmo, never fired, perfect
PAP 59, matching nice stock, fabulous shooter
PAP 59, matching, maybe unfired
Tula laminated 1952 all matching
Tula hardwood 1953 all matching (forced match stock)
Tula Hardwood 1954, maybe unfired, no refurb marks or bbq
Tula 55/56 all matching still in KBI box with accessories
So we are at 14 total. I traded my Alby for a beautiful Soringfield Garand, but I will be getting another one soon hopefully.
Overall I am real happy with my collection!Last edited by Bobby Ricigliano; 03-05-2014, 4:09 AM.Comment

Oh so many variants out there. Speaking of variants, I got a few bucks in my pocket and went full retard over the last week or so. The following are inbound from GB buys:
Chinese Paratrooper
Chinese French Tickler

Nice to see you back on the SKS bandwagon Bobby.
Now if you can find one of the rare experimental sheet metal receiver variants.
You'll need to keep that Chinese French Tickler next to Narcissa,,,, keep her happy..
