For me it's been about getting all of the reloading components well stocked and picking us some spare parts to have on hand in case something gives out. Not too much that can be posted about that topic unfortunately.

This is what I did when I was first starting out. I made a simple bench out of scrap 2x4s was about 20" square and a little over 2' tall. I boxed in the bottom of the legs and put it on a piece of plywood, so the bottom served as storage for dies and components. It was sturdy, yet small enough to fit in the bottom of a closet, and portable enough I could carry it wherever I wanted to work in my apartment.
I really wish I had a photo of it, and I kind of miss it. Sometimes it is nice to reload wherever I want, instead of the cold garage.
Cool thing is, you don't really even need tools to make one, just a good cordless drill/screwdriver. Home Depot will cut wood for you, just make up a bill of materials, grab the wood, and give them the list.Comment

Anyone can reload with almost no room. The Lee Handloader, a couple of small Tupperware containers for components, you technically don't need any kind of bench at all. It just comes down to how badly you want to reload. Hand depriming tool, hand trimmer or CTS in a drill, Lee hand press, hand priming tool. I know several people who live in small apartments who reload.Last edited by Capybara; 01-17-2014, 12:13 PM.NRA Certified Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor, Shotgun Instructor and Range Safety Officer

"I, unfortunately, don't have the room in my apt for reloading..."
Black & Decker Workmate makes an inexpensive, compact and sturdy reloading bench which will fit under the bed or in the back of a closet.Comment

Google image search found me something similar, although this is larger then mine was it is built the exact same way (well, the frame is the same, mine the shelf on the bottom was below the frame, made a nice storage area with sides, so crap wouldn't fall out when I was moving it around).
Go to Home Depot, have them cut you some 2X4s
4 ea, 20" top and base frame front & back
4 ea, 17" top and base frame sides
4 ea, 24" legs
and whatever scrap plywood they have, 20"x20" and you have a perfect apartment reloading bench. If it was me, I would make sure the top is at least 1" thick, so if you get 1/2" plywood, just double up the top.
One box of wood screws.
I bet you could slap something together for under $40.
If you do a Google image search for "compact reloading bench" and "Apartment reloading bench" you can get lots of ideas, there are a couple of what look like table-top benches people have made, a small box that you set on your kitchen table.Comment

Oh yes you do! I started with a Lee 'O' single-stage bolted to a B&D Workmate folding bench, like this:

I used a Lee Auto-prime tool and had stackable Tupperware containers for everything. Worked great. I loaded 1,000's of rounds that way. When I was through, I would fold the bench and hang it in the closet. Easy.
My dad started with the classic Lee Loader to load .30-06, like this:

All you need for that is a flat surface and a rubber mallet!
I remember my dad working up loads right at the range with that loader. Works great if all you need to do is neck size. He made some really accurate loads, too.
You can do it!!!
You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.
Come on...what harm??

I live in a fairly large apartment, and reload on an old ikea desk in the walk-in closet. my setup is anything but compact at this point, with Costco pretzel barrels full of brass scattered everywhere, nevermind that now all my tools from work are in there too. it's a mess but I still want it bad enough that I climb in and crank out some ammo now and then.Comment

get one of these Lyman tools. I started out with one while renting a room. it uses standard dies. no bench needed at all, although you can mount it to one.MAGAComment
