    2. California's new registration laws have put a damper on C&R collecting?

    3. Normal January lull, people are at SHOT show, etc.

What do you think? I'm not seeing many of us post about cool new guns we found, very many technical questions or identify this type questions and I am curious what you think the cause is.
For me it's the registration thing. Pistols we have to live with but the surplus weapons I had just soon not register.

I definitely think its number 2.
and now we lost that ability to cash N Carry C&R long arms. I don't think we'll ever get it back in California.

now that old but and usable condition $150 rifle/shotgun is $150 plus DROS fee, (and probably) plus tax, plus FFL dealer fee/markup.

        it's just not the same.

yep, between commie laws and losing my job, the wind is really out of my sales. I still have an interest in c&r but I won't be buying any here most likely. I hope the idiots that came up with this bs all die in a plane crash or something, really kinda screws up a big part of being a collector and shooter.

I already have about 14lbs of powder; I do need to pick up some 308 smk for the swiss though. I just buy bulk x39 (steel) and x54r because it's not worth reloading those. I've been buying a can here and there of 30.06 from cmp too and have been saving the brass to start reloading that as well.

I honestly don't know. I almost bought a 59/66 with the GL removed, of course, from Big 5 last year but that wouldn't have been a C&R transaction. Bobby or other SKS fan, have an answer for this?

Good man. Smart decision. I only have some 7.62x39 brass and some 7.62x54r brass so I can occasionally shoot those guns at ranges that won't let me shoot the surplus. But I mostly shoot the surplus out of both rifles most of the time. It feels weird to shoot .58 per round brass out of a Mosin.

I, unfortunately, don't have the room in my apt for reloading, but I do keep my brass... and steel, lol, for when I have an actual house and can have a reloading station. By then I should have hundreds of rounds saved up

IIRC: Yes removing the GL removes the C&R status. I think there were some MAS49 rifles that had their GL's removed at the French armory. I suppose those would still be C&R since they are in 'original' military configuration.

                            YMMV. IMHO. ABC. 123.

Case and point: Many people wonder when the US Gov is going to start releasing M14's, like to the CMP, etc. Answer: it's never going to happen. No government is ever going to release any full auto design that will make it into the USA.

There are really no more stores of bolt action or SA only military guns in the world. Add to that UN weapons treaties, a general cultural decline of valuing military history, and an aging demographic that does.

C&R is truly a thing of the past. It was honestly taken for granted for so long and the value is being realized in current prices. We laugh at Big 5 Mosins but the we also laughed at $25 barrels full of K98's, the $100 SKS, and the $150 M1 carbine.

I am 36 and started collecting in the late 90's, started going to gun shows with my dad in the 80's. None of my gun friends my age are into C&R, it's almost always me and some very gray haired guys.
