Yes, Senator Kevin DeLeon's SB808. I will be surprised if it doesn't pass. If you ever thought you wanted an 80% rifle, TODAY is the day to buy one and put it together, the antis will be closing that door any minute.

I think there is a legislator trying to pass a law requiring serial numbers and resigistration of homebuilts now aswell. As California becomes more and more of a lefty one party state, I'm afraid we haven't seen the worst of it yet.

Hmm, I must've been looking at an early one (and sleepy). I looked at the form at around Jan 2-3, and I could've sworn it said $17. Oh well, not much of a difference anyway.

Not that I have anything to report for this year, as I'm still hung over from the Great C&R Orgy of 2013

The only cure for that hangover is to buy more. And by the way, thanks again for the Mosin Nick.

            I don't have one 80% lower.

But I have eight 100% lowers though

If you really love C&Rs and want to own them while living in this state, you'll do what it takes. I've seen a lot of crying over 10 day waits and paying taxes plus registration now, but, in the end, you gotta pay to play.

I don't like it either which is why I submitted my 03/COE stuff so that I can carry on since a $19 fee isn't going to keep me from enjoying the hobby.

The 50.00 is the least of your problems. You guys are heading down a very slippery slope out there. It is sadly only going to get worse. Yes it can and will get alot worse.. You should be depressed. But, hang on, you are in for a even rougher ride to come..

I feel for all of you. But I no longer reside there. So I cannot help you..

And no. You do not need to pay to play. That is the kind of attitude they want from you people..I do not have to and most of the rest of Country does not have to "pay to play"

And the attitudes of, "so what pay the 50.00". It is not that much..These types of sheep attitudes will get you alot deeper into the abyss..That is exactly the kind of stuff they want to hear from their subjects.. This kind of blind thinking is what they want every time they take another of your rights away..They have a agenda out there. They will reach their goal eventually, if you continue these types of sheepish attitudes.

Every Freedom loving member of your State needs to be making phone calls and writing letters when they propose this silly unconstitutional crap out there. But no, instead after the fact, you meander like sheep and say something like, " just pay the money". It is not that much more than a cup of coffee

What will it be next time. 500.00, 1000.00. More likely something even worse than just your wallet..

                  Bookends

As Dandy Don used to croon on MNF, "Turn out the lights, the party's over..."
those of us paying attention heard it as early as 1990 when "PPT" was passed. certainly when Moonbeam signed long gun reg in oct 2011.

truly, all good things must end. flight to a free state will only delay the inevitable-the 2nd Amendment will be extinct in this country before Gen X'rs reach retirement age.

there was an odd symmetry for me, which started with we now call C&R. on 12Jan1987 I bought my first firearm, a SKS for $170 otd, cash and carry of course. back then, it was a just cheap substitute for what I really wanted, a Garand. I now know it to have been a Sino-Soviet, s/n E1302. during the course of the year, I did acquire my first Garand, and the SKS became surplus to me. I advertised it in the Recycler and sold it for $120, which included 100 rounds of chinese ammo, a bunch of strippers and a chinese chest pouch/bandoleer. I just wanted to be rid of it. it left my possesion on 28Dec1987.
fast forward to 2013. I have more than enough Garands and wanted another semi-auto that will resist banning until the last possible minute, and shoots cheap ammo. Voila, a Classic Firearms SKS fits the bill. my last firearm purchase as a resident of this state, it too is a Sino-Soviet, all matching.

took delivery on 28Dec2013, exactly 26 years after letting go the first one.

Sticking it to the man doesn't put a rifle in my hands today (or 10 days from now) in CA so I'm going to continue doing what I'm doing and find a way to continue my hobby. That's the point I'm trying to make; if you want it bad enough, you'll find a way to get it done via 03/COE, moving out of state, lobbying, waiting 10 days, etc.

It will be pretty short order when it does come to "moving out of state" becomes one of your two options. The other. Give up your Firearms completely and stay..

I left in the early 90s already..It was bad enough then. But I also had the foresight to leave sooner than later..

I know it is tough to leave when you have Family ties and such. But if you cannot move, you need to fight to protect your rights.

How many even protested this new law or any of the other ridiculous past ones or proposed current ones? Raise your hand if you put up any sort of protest to it at all....I am sure a few did. But the masses surely did not..

this is exactly what I'm saying. continuing to jump through the hoops they throw in front of us not only gives them more money to screw us with, but also gives them the idea that we don't mind being screwed. my purchases, aside from the lc9 I just bought today and perhaps a couple antiques, are over. once I'm able, i'll be stocking up on ammo and reloading components before they pass some legislation that'll make that impossible to get. California will no longer receive any gun money from this knucklehead. once I'm back on the upswing my future financial endeavors will be centered upon getting the hell out of here....

At 66 years old i will not see the end, for you younger folks it will be painful. It will continue to be a slow steady process as it has been. they are not in a hurry. I think AZ will be the last free state. they will push back.

I will move to Arizona in the next few years, I am 50. Hopefully it will stay free as long as I am around, although I will weep for civil rights of my kids and grandkids, my 15 year old son has already seen the erosion of his 2A rights since he started shooting at 11. He looked pretty bummed when I told him that we were going to have to register his 10/22 as an assault weapon when SB374 looked eminent. May still have to when the overlords ram that through.

While I am here though, I will vote, fight, post, donate, mobilize against the tyrants that have desecrated this state and I will educate, instruct and introduce new shooters and non shooters to the lifestyle of freedom and their 2A rights. That's all I can do.

Bit of a late bloomer, bought my first C&R on 12/31/2013 from the trunk of some guys car in the dark corner of a parking lot. An ok looking Mosin 91/30. Unfortunately didn't have the opportunity to experience a C&R rifle until fellow CGers let me try out a T53 and Enfield earlier in Dec. Registration is not going to stop me but will likely limit what I get. For some reason I have an controllable urge to get a Garand, even without ever shooting one.
