    C&R section makes me sad.

This used to be just about my favorite sub forum, but now I try to glance past it and pretend it doesn't exist. Why, you ask? Well, you didn't, but I'm gonna tell you, anyway.

Times were tough for me last year and I had to sell my beautiful CMP 1917 for less than I had into it and I didn't even get a chance to shoot it.

I wanted to get a CMP garand before the beginning of 2014 but I never got around to it.

One can no longer C&C a C&R in a FTF transaction, which was a big part of the appeal for me. No lame paperwork, no waiting, no more.

All I have now to keep me cozy in C&R land is a pretty Tula SKS and my beloved "T" marked finn mosin. I guess they'll have to do for a while.

Most of all it's that damn 1917 that got away, never felt such seller's remorse.

sorry, just had to gripe a bit.

That's only if I go to BLM spots. All the cheap ammo for those guns is magnetic. I've got some non magnetic yugo 7.62x39 but I really don't want to put it through my sks (corrosive).

On the other hand, I've got a crap load of reloading components for 30-06.

It also makes me sad. My first gun I ever bought when i turned 18 was an m1 garand i bought out of a trunk in the back of a Mcdonalds. I'm sad future generations won't be able to experience that freedom

I used to get up in the morning ...walk out with the dog to get the paper
          Get a hot Cup-O-Joe

Then settel down with Cal-guns to see what C + R long guns might be for sale that morning
I was always looking for the beloved FTF sales ............No More ...........

yeah, but we are sooooo much safer now, all those drive-bys with C&R rifles where really making the cops work overtime, now they can relax. (sarcasm)

The dark days are here to stay. I agree that it's sad to see the C&R FTF transactions are ended for most people now (unless you have an 03 and COE).

This hits a note for me too. I traveled all over Southern and Central California to buy C&R rifles face to face. The journey was certainly half the fun and meeting the sellers and sharing a few words was a pleasure all in itself. I'm sad that this experience has been taken away from us. My biggest regret is that I didn't find Calguns sooner, at least then I would've had more time to shop for C&Rs with freedom.

Same. My friend and I would always make a point to celebrate a new C&R purchase with a sushi dinner. Weird tradition, don't even know how it started but won't be doing that any more. (all the fish are radioactive nowadays anyways lol)

It used to be that way with everything before '91- handguns, modern, and it wasn't THAT long ago. Think about that one!

Yes, sometimes the journey is just as fun as putting a new rifle or two into the safe or display cabinet... I too was a late commer to calguns and my only regret is that I didn't find out about you guys sooner! Calgunners are some of the finest people I have come to know and respect ..no more c&r ftf just breaks my heart!!.. Maybe one day we can get things back on track to how things were, but that's just being optimistic..

I think eventually I'm just gonna have to get a C&R and a COE and just say screw the no FTF regs.

Jeez people! Go get your COE and carry on as usual! And don't tell me you don't have the $50 or whatever it cost for it. You know you blow through that in gas money and Starbucks on your way to the range. Not to mention ammo costs!
