I had never heard of ONTRAC until yesterday. I was expecting a package, but had never received a tracking number. I called the vendor and they emailed me the ONTRAC info. I looked it up and it showed those 3 little words we all love to hear...'out for delivery'.

It showed up 10 minutes later.

The driver was a young woman in an Astro cargo van. She was very nice. It looked like she had a kid with her. I don't care what they drive, as long as they bring my stuff!

Airborne/DHL used to sub out deliveries here, as we are off the beaten path. It might be some kid in a primered ricer, but at least he has a job.

My gripe with UPS is the ground shipping taking 7 days in most cases, even if the item arrives at the local hub before that. One exception I have found is that the route from Fernley NV > Sacramento, CA > Chico, CA > Out for Delivery must be cosmically aligned or something. Sometimes ENCO has free ground shipping. If I order something, it leaves Fernley that evening, hits Sac later that night, and is in Chico and on the truck by the next morning. I don't know why, but I am not complaining. I like free overnight shipping!

Already a member of mychoice. Still won't let me change t he delivery.

I think some of you might not get it.....it is adult signature required. I am having c&r guns shipped to my house. I can't leave a note with my signature on it (not allowed) and when I log into my ups "my choice" acct it wont let me re route the package. Even a phone call to cust service gets me nothing.

the way i see it, non-fleet serviced vehicles = reduced reliability. I've personally had a package be a day late and when I called about why it was 10pm and still "out for delivery" they told me it would come the next day since the drivers car broke down.

There was a point in time when I did a fair amount of shipping ( 50 -100 pkg a week) When I shipped stuff UPS I always had issues with the packages being damaged ( looked like a truck ran over the box). So as far as I am concerned UPS stands for universal package smashers.

When I shipped the same items with USPS or FedEx I had far fewer problems. When I did have a claim with UPS it was like pulling teeth to get them to pay where FedEx and USPS have decent claim processes ( USPS can be slow)

On the delivery side I haven't had too many issues but I am in a urban area and have known by drivers forever. However when I look at the delivered boxes the UPS ones just look like they have been handled a lot rougher like dented corners and torn packaging.

One final note ....... FedEx express drivers are FedEx employees , The FedEx ground drivers are contract employees. I have found service varies a lot with the FedEx ground drivers.

Knock on wood, ive had no problems with UPS. My regular driver is great.

Nowadays, I mostly use the myups to have them hold it at the hub. I can pick it up at my convenience.

Not a huge fan of ups, that being said my local driver kicks but. I had the front suspension/brakes for the gf's '49 Ford f1 shipped to me. Due to the cost ($1800) they elected to require a signature. Well, the driver left the usual sorry we missed you notice, but then came back later in the evening 6pmish to re deliver.

The UPS guy on my route has circled back to drop signature required packages off in the evening to be sure that I get them. That said I find FedEx easier to deal with in having the package sent to the local FedEx store and pick it up there.

It all depends on what the shipper checks on the form. I had one C&R that I had to drive about 10 miles up to the UPS Depot to pick up but I had another that went straight to my local UPS store and I picked it up later. But you can always route an "Adult Sig" required to your local UPS depot I believe?

My UPS guy is awesome...he gets a $50 gift card to Target every holiday. He'll bring C&R and ammo orders back around on his way back to the hub if he misses me in the morning. Great guy.

All E250-350 cargo vans in my area with professionally painted logos, every driver ive seen had no questionable legal status either.

UPS ground takes forever, and UPS doesnt hit my neighborhood till 7pm OR LATER

USPS is retarded 90% of the time aswell (my block wants to murder our horrible mail carrier).

No complaints about fedex (my driver is a cute tattooed girl)

I've been in the delivery business for the last 20yrs, here's a tip.
A simple phone call to a drivers supervisor.
A complaint call is going to have the driver "on the carpet", getting a large chunk of his azz chewed off. "IF" he figures out "who" made the call, he can and will use the rules, to make your deliveries just as unpleasant.
A complement call, several over a couple of weeks time, and you'll get treated like you are his only customer in a 50 mile radius. While telling his boss what a great job he does, be sure he makes note of your name and address. All calls about a driver are logged by his supervisor in the drivers file. When his yearly performance review comes up, this has a big effect on his raise. These kind of calls are like gold to a good driver, and they don't forget who made them.
                          Could'nt agree with you anymore!

not sure how much they have changed in the last 15 years since I worked there. But when I was a loader at a major hub, loading packages in the transpo trucks for interstate ground delivery, you couldnt let the belt get backed up, if they had to shut down the belt, due to a backup, it meant all the bays had to stop unloading to let us catch up, thousands of packages just sitting and waiting.

we were supposed to use cattle prods, big shovel things to push and prod the stuck packages going up and down the various sorter slides, instead we would jump on top, lay down and start kicking and pushing to get the jam unstuck. id see this same behavior up and down the line of 20 or so trucks getting loaded at the cerritos hub.

we were supposed to stack them neat and tight in the trucks, kind of like a huge tetris puzzle made of thousands of cardboard boxes. once again, getting backed up, we would just toss them all in randomly, then build a nice wall and try to catch up again.

                            inside a UPS hub.

My regular UPS driver is great but his backup sucks at life. He likes to just yell "UPS!", one knock and drops the package on the welcome mat He left a 27lb box of ammo in front of the wrong door a few weeks back

Two tracking numbers totaling 4 boxes scheduled for delivery later today...fingers crossed
