I saw one in my local gun shop recently... It got me curious, what are your opinions? I read the aftermarket safeties added for import are crap, why is that? Are they accurate, how are the sights? What's the 7.62x25 round like?

Not my flavor but I will not lie they are good guns.

From what I've read they don't function as they should and I've even read of some falling out. It's best to just remove them.

It's a fireball. The OG round was very hot and if you reload you can get the same round.

Most if not all the cheap surplus ammo is all but gone; it used to run in the 3 cents a round price. Pretty much all you have left for ammo is new production that cost more than 9mm. The good is that it comes in brass that can be reloaded.

I got a couple and the aftermarket safety has never been an issue for me. They are fun to shoot. The round is a hot little round. I find that mine are accurate when I first start to shoot them, and then get less accurate as they heat up. Now, I just shoot one for a little and shoot something else to let it cool down.

I have one, fun guns, love the disassembly process on these. Also if you can find the ammo at a good price buy it up

Great pistol and fun to shoot. The rounds are a little hot though.
Mine is a very accurate shooter but it does tend to snake bite me in the web of my hand with the back of the hammer!!!! I have big hands and there is not much of a beaver tail on them. Easy to break down and clean.

I have to agree with the above. I have to wear gloves with mine or put duct tape on my hand web or im a bloody mess. I love mine.
The pseudo safety is crap. Mine lasted one magazine before it fell apart and slipped out.
Its a fun gun and was cheap to shoot a couple of years ago but it seems the $90 ammo tins have dried up.

Great guns for the price. There is a notable quality difference. The russian and polish ones are usually nicer than the Yugo and romanian ones. Giant muzzle flash. Surplus ammo was cheap I you could find it.

Yep, you can. But if you happen to have a C96 Mauser pistol, I'd avoid using surplus 7.62x25mm ammo. Warsaw Pact quality control for consistency was a tad on the lean side. Some "could" work fine while others are rather too hot for a C96. It's a gamble most folks would avoid, especially when you consider how much the C96s are worth. But Toks and CZ52s could munch on surplus or commercial stuff all day long.

I wouldn't shot commercial 7.62X25 in a C96 either. Even the commercial stuff is too hot to handle.

I have a Yugo M57. Very similar to TT33 but has a 9 round mag and thus the grip is 1 round longer. The M57 also has a 1911 style safety, a half cock safety feature and the magazine disconnect safety. Not sure if the M57 1911 safety is an add on like the the TT33 import safety. Other than the M57 mags beeing a little harder to find and a bit more expensive, I would say go with the M57. I am told the the longer M57 magazine will also work in the TT33 but just sticks out a bit from the bottom of the grip, so if you ever picked up a TT33 down the road you could use the M57 mags in both. The shorter TT33 8 rounder will not work in the M57. I chose the M57 over the TT33 because I like the look of the longer M57 grip over stubby handle on the TT33 and due to the 1911 style safety. Everybody seems to complain about the ergonomics and the quality of the TT33 import add on safety but I've never handled one so I shouldn't comment beyond what I know first hand about the M57. As is typical of most Russian design's, both are super easy to break down and clean.

No one seems to like those POS safeties added to appease the ATF, including me. So don't buy one of those. Buy one that arrived in this country before they came up with that dumb import law. That's what I did. Then you can have a Tok. that has the benefits described by others in this thread, AND you will have a pistol that is easy to sell when that day comes. I call it a "no excuse" gun.
