You can be the SKS King of Texas.

I've got California locked down tight.

Absolute ripoff. The gun store in Lancaster on Sierra Hwy has Chinese now for around $350

Glad I got mine for 69$ in the 90s at turners. Had no idea they were that much now, holy crap.

Yea and Mosin's were $70-$80; the good old' days!

Yeah I am glad I jumped on the Mosin Boat and bought a bunch of them for $90. Even though I hate those F8cking things I know people love them and each year they are going up and up. Smart investment indeed.

Yeah....I think Old Out Law might live in TX. If he does then I am screwed...he is like one of the SKS Gods mind you. Like Prince05, and Yooper's Jay.

That's not really fair - have you seen any SVT-40 for under $800 in the past two years? They're just not out there at retailers, so now it's a seller's market. There aren't any of those in the $300-500 range anymore, whatever their previous value when they were plentiful on the market.

I know, I know, I took your troll bait, but come on, how much would you pay for a 1942 or 43 K98 with markings intact? Those used to go for a song.

lets keep things in perspective. a dollar does not go very far today.what you paid 20 years ago was 1993 earning power. take a car you bought in the 70s around 7,000 loaded. today a equal car is 35-40 thousand.

Yup hook line and sinker. Well depends on the factory code and if it's RC or not right? Meowsers do come in and they are not banned or import restricted. Even those crappy humped Century ones are still out there for sub $300-350. Hell widners had some RC with markings for 439 and peened ones for $399 and still up for grabs.

Problem with the Mausers is 8mm is dried up now and even before the Gun panic, Authentic mausers were going dry. AWB would not have effected Bolt actions. 98ks mausers were getting scared about 3-4 years and Samco was the last ones to have them at Sub 300 even though they were Post-War Czech ones. Still a 98k with markings.

If it was an RC run of the mill factory code 1942-1943 markings intact...hmmm I'd offer him 350-400 at the most. Probably piss the owner off but o well, he missed the boat and 8mm is dry. No point of buying a rifle if there's no ammo for it right?

I'd agree with you. I looked at SVT's for 2wks before I bought mine and they were going for 1,500 and way north. Some of them were in ok shape

It's how the market is. There are less of them out there, so, naturally, the price will go up. Just like Mosins. You can't find a VG or X grade for under a bill anymore. It's just a sign of the times

You prob complain that gas isn't $1.20 anymore

Supply and Demand. You want it? Well give me $500. Oh cool, you'll pay that? Nice, I'll keep it at that price since people will pay it. Hell, I'd try to sell an SKS for $600 coz I know someone would pay it. If it's worth $600 to them, great. I'm in the black $300. You might say I paid too much for my SVT. I say I got it for a great price. That's what it was worth to me
March 29- April 5, 2019- The Million Mag March. Thank you, Judge Benitez and all the vendors

I bought a new Russian SKS at gun show back in the day for less than $150. I shot a couple hundred rounds through it. It didn't impress me very much. I felt almost guilty selling it for $600 for it recently. But the new owner was thrilled. It may have an appeal, but I see it for what is/was. A crudely made weapon made in mass production by a state controlled factory that worried more about quota than quality.

With that being said, it is a free country and people are going to pay what they want to pay.

Nope. She is way over $900 at this point. C&Rs are much cheaper than wife and kids.

BTW, I have plenty of 8MM available, for the right price

Keep, I don't want it. I shot most of mine up and sold the rest during the panic. I got 10k rounds of 5.45X39 and 6k rounds of 7.62X39 golden tiger. Better than a gold bar in the bank. My 98k Mauser is just going to sit in the safe and live in peace.

Might buy a few SKS'....but on to the AK 74. Ammo is .19 cents around and sooner a later there's going to be another massive shooting and another wave of AWB bills and panic. it might be another 5-10 or even 20 years but like a shark that smells blood I will be ready and waiting for it. Young enough and listened to all the old timers...just like the .223, 8mm...when it was dirt cheap they bought hoards of it now they got the last laugh. Duly noted for future investments.
