SKS PRICES

i was looking at shot gun news today and J&G wanted 499 for a rough Chinese SKS. my hole in the wall gun store wants 600 . if this is the price for a importers SKS what is the normal retail price going to be on them. i thought Russia and China were not importing SKSs. are all these Chinese SKS albys.

I cannot believe these prices recently. I've never paid more than $300 for an sks, and won't start now! I have had pretty decent luck at local gun shows......just work the seller a little bit. They can always be talked down and most of the ones I've seen are in better shape than the ones found from online retailers.

I scoffed at SVT-40 prices when they went above $400. A few years later I bought one at $900. Sigh...

Nope these are just the prices here in CA...of course. JG still has panic prices while Classics, Gb, and Allan's armory are back down to normal. I will never pay panic prices for an SKS, never have and never will. Nothing pisses people off more than e-mailing saying I will give them $450 for a Russian Refurb they are trying to sell for $800 lol please. I am not the SKS king for nothing and SKS gun market and SKSforums stats don't lie.

However come 1/1/2014....well your screwed any way so suck it up and buy now before it's to late. Just think...that $600 Chicom sks might magically go up to $1,000 bucks come midnight on 1/1/2014 and you know some noob will go in there and eat that slop up. It it is what it is. Sad really.

I think the panic really brought out the inherent value in SKS'. They are a pretty high quality feeling milled gun, which looks great in a decent stock, shoots a powerful and available round, and in CA, is a wonderful option compared to a maglocked AK, even at $400 or so.
In my mind, the price is catching up to the value, and I can see them settling around $400 or so.

Most of your common Norinco Chinese and Yugo SKS's available already have to be DROS'd.

If I were an FFL01 I would be buying crates of Classics Arms SKS' and hide them in the back. Come 1/1/14 id be a millionaire over night. Mark my words, Californians will be fighting tooth and nails to get their hands on them.
