with Enfield it is not the ramp it's the lips of the magazine - too far out and ammo falls out too far in and generally one side or another fails to feed on the last round or two, OR one side of the stack, either odds or evens, fails to feed at all.

Quick question, how do you adjust the rear sight? It does not slide freely like a Mauser rear sight when you press the side bar lock

Nice rifle! For $300, you did very well. I had one years ago, always regretted selling it.

It's up to you to do as you like with it, but personally, I wouldn't mess with the finish on either the wood or the metal. It looks like a pretty sharp piece as-is.

The rear sight button may simply be frozen in place due to years of not being moved, or dried cosmoline stuck between it and the sight bar. Try letting it soak in CLP or another strong lubricant overnight, and see if it improves.

It is probably packed with dried grease. Use some aerosol brake cleaner on it and then depress the button and slide the sight on the leaf.

If the OP does soak the sight or clean it, he must remain dilligent in not cleaning too hard or else he risks scrubbing off the original paint.

Sprayed on some wd 40 and slid the sight mark forwards and then back again where it stuck again so now we know it can move

Don't really care for the black paint. Already stripped the rifle and cleaned off the Cosmo underneath with mineral spirits and light coat of tung oil. This black paint is the worst kind of finish ever.

Now now, it may be ugly, but it is original. And it keeps the rifle from rusting.
