Mine came with 12 rounder bought about 4 years ago in the PRK

Bbq paint in good condition. I think most gunshops dont know.

There is a completely refurbished what looks like parkerized or dull blue in lgs right now. It looks spectacular. They asking 600..ouch. think id pay maybe 500...only saw it once, and had to leave. If I looked at it again I may get week and buy it. Its at J&G in granite bay.

I got one a few years ago. Good shooter. After a few time of cleaning it the paint started coming off and I could not stand it anymore. I stripped it all off. It looks a lot better without it. Rear ladder sight works better to. Who in their right mind uses an oil based paint on a gun? The metal underneath has a light patina and look more like an old British Enfield would.

Do i need to completely field strip it first before any shooting?

If you want to, the yeah.

Just be careful of the bolts. Pain in the rear to mess with.

also do you guys know if any other enfield mkIII parts are interchangeable with the 2a1? harder to find 2a1 parts than mkIII parts.

I am tempted to try to touch up some of the paint on mine.

                          Don't.

They were made off the same tooling at Ishapore, but the 2A1 was constructed from the ground up. I would not advise interchanging parts.

A common one is the sights. The Ishapore 2A1 has an 800 meter sight, while the original No. 1 Mk. III were designed with a 2000 meter sight. They do not interchange well and the accuracy and sight line-up shows.

One more for my full rifle. Had real bad lighting. Stock is a nice dark cherry.

Nice rifle, can't wait to pickup mine Thursday evening.

How about the extractor and extractor spring? Numrich gunparts is sold out of extractors springs, but lists them as compatible for both the mk3 and 2a1. hoping eveyrthing will be functionally fine with my rifle but good to be prepared in case of disappointments.

Well if they say they work in both rifles, then the springs should be fine.

I have only shot mine once ..it was at the vintage rifle comp at sac valley. Actually hit some steel first time out with it. Knocked 3 rams!. I had a few ftf...all extracts were fine. Not sure what I have to screw with feed ramp looks fine but tips seemed to cacth up entering chamber. Ill get to it someday. Cannot stand having a non 100% function gun
