Don't worry Joe if I find a nice C&R stash in TX I'll let you know
What part? I'm trying to convince the SO to move there. We visit Austin next month; I hope she really enjoys herself!

I just applied for my C&R 2 weeks ago. In 2014 will it be ineffective to have a C&R without a COE. Is it prudent to get started on a COE now?

COE only lasts a year, then needs to be renewed. Might want to wait a little as you don't need it to buy C&Rs this year and you will just have to renew it by next Summer.

Perhaps in the Fall, but beware, there may be a rush to get them at the end of year too since the new laws kick in on 01/01/2014? Nobody knows how may of California's 5k to 6K FFL03 holders have a COE and how many will rush to get one before the end of the year.

If a California C&R FFL wants to have C&R long guns shipped directly to them, or if they want to acquire C&R long guns in California directly from private parties or other C&R FFLs, then they will need to have a COE starting in 2014. Without the COE they will still be able to acquire C&R firearms in person while they are travelling outside of California.

I pretty much have most of what I want to get C&R wise. I may get one last thing, a Swede Mauser, and call it good.

AHHHHHHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! SKSer45, you really bust me up sometimes!

Is this like the "gloom and doom" you were SURE was coming down the pike after the Newtown shooting??? Remember? You were convinced that DiFi and her friends were staged at our front doors ready to come and confiscate all of our hi-caps and AR's???

You've got to start looking for the silver-lining my friend!!! It'll be OK. Honest!
You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.
                Come on...what harm??
