And not to put too fine a point on this, glennsche, I would not be at all surprised if when you were their age, you occasionally "didnt know what you were talking about, kept asking dumb questions and laughing really loudly"...

Perhaps you're the one who should consider lightening up...

I just find it interesting that you went out of your way to tell us about the "knuckleheads" who were just about to ship out for basic training. I mean, you're the one who brought that into the story...you must have thought that it was relevant in some way.

Some people might find a person who moves back to this country and then insults the young people who guarantee the freedom that he enjoys to be...uh...maybe... an ungrateful jerk.
so if you're in a gun store, and you cant get a word in with the keeper of the shop because two kids who keep waving guns around and wont STFU about how awesome it is theyve enlisted, this wouldnt be annoying to you?

LOL...this just keeps getting better, glennsche. Apparently you just can't help yourself.

Look, I would not be especially annoyed, but then I'm not a particularly emotional person. Apparently you are and perhaps I'm being unfair to you.

Look, when I deal with young people, I always bear in mind that I was young once...a long time ago. Perhaps you were too. Based on your postings, I suspect that you weren't very different than the two young men that you even now express annoyance at. That is something that you may want to consider.

Oh...and I think it is pretty ****ing awesome that they enlisted too. That you dismiss, with annoyance, the pride that they expressed about having signed up to serve tells me a lot about the kind of person that you are.

well, i just cant quite correlate how making a flippant comment about how some kids were bein knuckleheads suddenly makes me "a disrespectful jerk", and i'm trying to understand your thinking and white knighting stuff you werent there for.

i also am amazed how quickly you've judged me and classified me as a "jerk" and evidently have a nice picture of "what kind of person i am" based on an event you didnt see, and merely on words in a forum, with lots of blanks you've filled in yourself. i've tried to explain my thinking on the matter and you've come to your own conclusions, clearly, so not much point in taking this line of debate much further. Especially considering the topic of the thread originally has now degenerated into this.

so, well, with that, i'll wish you a pleasant evening.

Um. Have you been asleep the past few years and not following the events in this country???

I'm sorry if I offend anyone but our military isn't "defending out freedom" anymore because its awfully hard to defend something that doesn't much exist. And seriously, last time I checked our greatest threats are coming from DC and Sacramento, not Baghdad, Kabul, or any other godforsaken hell hole s*** f*** rat infested sewer.

I'm gonna catch hell for this and I'm not impugning the men and women of the armed forces and all that, but a decade and a half of imperialistic wars and were safer how??? Better off how???

Yes I'm a true liberal. A libertarian. anti state AND anti war. War is the life blood of the state.

They're not liberals, they're leftists. Please don't use the former for the latter. Liberals are Locke, Jefferson, Burke, Hayek. Leftists are progressives, Prussian state-socialists, fascists. Liberals stand against the state and unequivocally support liberty. Leftists support state tyranny.

Yes, it's part of the new law. The way it is now, for a firearm transfer in California to be exempt from California's dealer transfer requirement...

                  - the firearm must not be a handgun
                  - the firearm must be C&R
                  - the firearm must be over 50 years old.

Starting on January 1, 2014, for a firearm transfer in California to be exempt from California's dealer transfer requirement...

                  - the firearm must not be a handgun
                  - the firearm must be C&R
                  - the person receiving the firearm must be a C&R FFL with a COE
                  - the person receiving the firearm must pay to register it with CalDOJ.

I don't understand why handguns still can't be shipped, even with a COE, but you can still import them personally.

The only reason you can import them personally is because the transfer takes place outside of California, and California law doesn't apply to activity that an FFL engages in while outside of California. They could have tried to pass a law that said C&R FFLs can't transport handguns they own into California, but they probably knew it would have been struck down by the courts. Such a law would basically mean that anybody could transport their own handguns into California except for C&R FFLs. So the best they could do was require registration upon entering California, the same way they did with new residents importing handguns.

Well, what you do outside of the State of California, as much as it annoys California officials, is beyond the State of California's control. However, if you want to ship something to California, that they can control.

Cool - thanks for posting. Mine was received on 2/13, so I'm just a bit behind you. I called the other day, but the voicemail was for someone else so I sent another email inquiry and was given another number, also for Yvette. I didn't have a chance to call her, so I suppose I'll wait for another week or so.

You can ship it to yourself as I understand it.

If you physically take possession of the C&R handgun in say AZ, but don't want to deal with the hassle of taking it on a plane you can UPS it to yourself. - This assumes you have an 03 FFL
