There is no way of knowing how it was stored before you got it. It could have been on top of a pallet outside in the weather. Several years of hot cold weather could cause condensation to build up. Pull the bullets of some of the worst ones and see if there is any corrosion inside the cases.

I thought these are vacuum sealed? when i opened it, it sounded like it was a sealed can. I wouldn't think temp fluctuations would make that much liquid build up in there. Had to be half full.

I would knock off the big chunks by hand and then put it in the vibration polisher for a day or two --
My thinking is that ammo that can function after days in a M113 or half-track is not going to blink at a tumbling --
I bet that MN chamber is big enough to digest most of the chunks as it is.

Some worker on the ammo canning line had been drinking beer on the job and needed to take a leak real bad, but wasn't due for his break for another 20 minutes. And stopping the canning line to take a potty break would have seriously compromised his section's chance to win the right to hang the coveted and desirable cheap, garish, nasty looking, shiny red and gold, commie "Hero of Socialist Labor" banner with the equally nasty looking picture of V.I. Lenin, over their lunch table for all the world (or at least all the canning crews) to look at and be amazed and impressed.

So Wladyslaw took a quick wizz in the next can before it went into the crimping and sealing machine, and dumped the rest of his beer into it also just to get rid of any additional evidence.

I also had considered an act of sabotage by a disgruntled employee.

Ammo canning line foreman: "Comrad canner Nowak, socialism is in danger of going broke, and we must all work together to save it. Therefore, length of work shift for non-supervisory personel in this division will be doubled and pay will be cut in half."

Nowak (after Comrade foreman has left): "Cut my pay and increase my work load, eh? Well, I'll show you what I think of your "more work for less pay" nonsense!"

Well i got em sitting in some diesel to loosen up the chunky stuff, going to look for a vibratory tumbler somewhere. I noticed that they are very pricey tho. Oh, the other can was good to go. looked brand new.

That is why I decant my spam cans when I get them, and every other big batch. I got 1000 rounds of Wolf 9x18 from SG most of which primers pierced while shooting in our PA 63's. SG refunded cost and shipping both ways, sounds like they knew of the problem.

Empty the can totally and you might find the Polish floaties.

Absolutely, I have heard this claimed based on "powder breakdown." AKAICT, its baseless.

Yes, a guy I know over at the FAL files tumbled loaded ammo of several types, for LONG amounts of time, and pulled and looked at the powder. NO CHANGE>

Think about it, an hour in a vibrating tumbler cushioned by the media versus traveling across Russia in a supply truck. Which one would be more vibration?

As far as the ammo goes, I'd pull the bullets out, collect all the powder, most of which would probably still burn, and set it on fire!
I'd also pull the bullets, but seriously, don't just light the powder up. Some Calgunner died doing just that.

Decant indeed, as in to pour out a liquid into another container?
