New spam can of 7.62x54r full of water!

What the heck! Last night i decided to open up a new can of polish ammo to go to the range and found it swimming in a couple inches of water. I know it was sealed because it made that woosh noise when you start to open it. Now all the ammo is completely rusty! This is after i let it drain and dry overnight. Useable? Or just toss? How could this happen

I wouldn't think that's safe anymore. More importantly I wouldn't put that in any of my guns!

I have never seen an unopened spam can flooded like that before!

    Bummer.

It is a bummer, it makes me think that it happened when they made the ammo. Man did it it stink something bad when i opened it. Well that's like a 90 dollar spam can thats now worthless.

        Bummer.

First, I would contact the seller if possible - Outfits like the CMP would replace it.

Or, failing that, I would throw it away - and chalk it up to an imperfect World.

(and be glad you were not opening it in a fighting-whole in the middle of a fire-fight. )

That sucks but the bullets may still be good. So before you toss it try to sell it to a reloader.

Yep, that's garbage now... the steel cases compromised.
You could possibly pull the bullets and reload them.

Where did you get the can? Any Polish ammo has been sold out for years.
Show a picture of labeling on the top of the can

Ive never seen that happen, very unusual

Yea you can salvage the bullet at the very least. Pull and tumble them.

I wouldnt be surprised if the powder is still sound. Surplus is usually very well sealed.
Heck i wouldnt be surprised if they all still would shoot fine but it wouldn't be worth it with surplus ammo

I could be wrong but the CMP never sold any comblock surplus ammo only ammo from western nations.

Sounds like some Polish factory worker had too much vodka the previous night.

Chuck the ammo, it's not worth the hassle dealing with it. If you have the time and inclination you could recover the projectiles, but I would not bother.

Could this worker have pee'ed in the can before it was sealed

Toss the whole thing. You might get something for the projectiles if you went to all the effort to pull them.

                          More like the day of.

As far as the ammo goes, I'd pull the bullets out, collect all the powder, most of which would probably still burn, and set it on fire!

I would contact wherever you bought it from and see what they will do about it.
