CMP M1 Garand thread!!!!!

My opinion: Most Garands coming out of CMP are "mixmasters" - a mix if parts from different manufacturers. This is 100% OK. Don't worry about it being "correct" or whatever, just shoot it and enjoy it for what it is.

All Garands CMP is selling are mixmasters
They have been sold out of Correct and Collector Grades for some time

If its hot outside let it sit out in the sun with a bunch of paper towels under it, this will help with your cleaning process and make it a lot easier. Then I use a steam gun to get the Cosmo all liquified the start using simple green. There's a thousand ways to do it. But getting the Cosmo all gooey will help

No problem getting a cmp garand can be a hate/love relationship it sucks cleaning it and usually takes a couple of days but the end result is bad ***

Once i get the cosmo off should i hit it with any type of oil to preserve?

Yea simple green and elbow grease will do it. Do a couple of rounds of simple green/drying/steam gun/simple green. Keep that up for a couple of cycles. Also people will say do the oven trick or dishwasher tricks. I dunno about that its a garand I don't have the balls to try those tricks
