lol, you think the 91 is "bad" try sending some rounds down it's little brother the M44 or the M38, you will be begging for the 91. You can get used to it, try shooting from the standing or kneeling. These positions allow your body to "give" lessoning the felt recoil. If that fails, I'll make you an offer on that mule!

THIS! The M91/30 feels like I'm shooting my AR compared to my M44. Even though it's the same round, it's beast status our of the M44.

I must have some crappy rifles because of all o them...my Mosins are the smoothest easy to fire non hurting of the bunch. The one that hurts? That would be my 8mm German Mauser K98k. My guess is that the shape of the stock and the angle of the butt with respect to the shooters body shape has a lot to do with it. Different shoulder shape, different guns will be comfortable. But then again, I have a little Russian ancestry.

I bought the rubber butt-pad for the one I owned from Amazon, drilled out all the holes, and could shoot it all day without issue.

Shot of vodka every ten rounds will moderate recoil quite nicely, but only chilled vodka.

i leave them alone and while they do thump ya, if you get dialed in on the right spot in your shoulder, you'll just want to shoot it more the more it thumps. carbines are especially fun because the muzzle blast is like naval artillery, it's great. usually go through at least 100rds in an outing. blowing up rocks, bricks, and pretty much anything else is so satisfying. as for the pissing match, do you guys even remember the point you were trying to make? if there was one. some people are better at shooting their mouths off than their guns, just wish they wouldn't congregate here.

in another life i Qualified in ARMY basic training firing the M-14. my Mosins kick much harder. and the M 44 kicks harder than a Mosin 91-30. i got drafted. i hated the Army but i did my duty for a year in NAM. if i never shoot another AR again fine with me. i like old bolt surplus rifles much more.i was not gung ho and never lied about what i did over their.many braver men than me saw some bad do do.
