WHAT HAPPENS WHEN CMP DRIES UP

So today i filled out an order form for 4 Service Grade M1 Garands from CMP.

    2 Springfields
    2 HRA

Basically its a shot to get a WW2 receiver(SA Only) and also an investment. What do you see happening when CMP dries up and is there any possible way of knowing when that will be. I know M1 will never depreciate but curious what everyone thinks will happen when these dry up.

Didn't the Feds finally approve the import of all those Garands from Korea? I seem to remember it was several tens of thousands of rifles.

Edit: Here's an article about it. http://www.ammoland.com/2012/06/29/w...#axzz24Deoolsp

I don't buy the "shortage" scares.

Rifles aren't scrapped at anywhere near the rate of cars. Yet if there's a certain older classic car you want, it's out there.

People lose interest, people die, people buy and sell and swap to get something else. Guns are a "durable good," much more so than a car. More like real estate... or some airplanes.

There will still be just as many as there ever was, there just won't be a "commercial" outlet to buy them from...

They will stop selling them and people that have one or more will want a higher price for them.

My WAG is CMP will sell out of the recent Greek return within two years (if that). Get you limit of 12/year and you will thank me later.

It will be no different than the Mauser shortage goin on right now. Classic Arms, Mitchells Mausers are taking people to the cleaners with their prices since mausers are dried up. If you know where to look you can find it at a good price.

I reckon the same goes for M1's when they get dried up as well.

                  Here's what happens:
The price goes up up up!

Anyone else remember 189.00 SKS's??? Heck, I think I have an OLD Shotgun News from the 80's where they were 99.00!! M1 Carbines were under 200 too I think....

As crazy as this sounds, Mosins may be selling for OVER $149.00 soon!

wow you got robbed Fals, I have a Navy Arms Flyer that sold the Farmers Friend SKS for 89 bucks To bad I was only 4 years old back then sigh....

I hope your right about those Mosins, I am praying for that day so all these Walmart Mosin Shoppers can quit their boasting about how cheap their POS rifles are. Either way they will go up in price but it will not be like SKS, garands or Mauser. I pray they wont.

                      1. Mitchell has been taking newbies to the cleaners for ages. "I found the last Yugoslavian warehouse! Really I did! I mean it this time!"

                      2. They made 17 million 98ks. An incredible percentage survived. Those get traded back and forth and have been traded ever since the end of the war.

                      3. The stuff MM sells, is borderline worthless for resale -- at least to any knowledgeable buyer. Great candidates for "sporterizing."

yeah your right about that Browning but I think Classic Arms stepped it up a notch wouldn't you say? To sell a re-stamped and humped 98k for 600-700 is a just crazy. I am amazed that people ate it up too.

I hope they don't do that with m1 Garands. Think some one could get away with it?

Maybe there will be an influx of Russian captured M1 Garands with the swastikas peened off because they were first captured by the Germans?

1993-1994 Turners So.Cal (Chino) SKS's for $69.00-$79.00 each. Ammo was just as proportionally cheap. The family would blow through a crate a weekend.

                            Good time, Good times indeed.
