I picked up a poorly treated 59/66 off of here expecting meh accuracy. Previous owner mickymoused a firesight/aperture combo (does not work on the 59/66) and while I'm still centering it it's grouping are touching at 50 yards. Not bad considering the barrels pitted a bit and given the cheap cost of privi there's almost no reason to bother with corrosive.

Yes, if the CA C&R FFL is actually in Nevada when the transfer takes place. A California C&R FFL could even meet an unlicensed California resident in Nevada and acquire a Yugo M59 from them.
With all the fur flying I'm getting a little confused, can a CA 03 C&R FFL order these direct or not? Seems like one reply indicated it can be ordered and shipped to a CA based 03 FFL.

New research uncovered the year of manufacture for the various serial number ranges of the M59. But almost all of them were made between 1963 and 1966 if I recall correctly. Only a few were made in 1961.

By the time most M59s are over 50 years old it won't matter anymore because California's "50 years old" requirement ends in 2014.

Ok, Thanks, now I'm clear on it. Get it shipped to my NV 01 FFL!

Yes, I'm quite the Pollyanna when it comes to AB 809. Ending the 50+ years old requirement was a tiny silver lining in an otherwise f***'d up law.

The chart posted above has good data for M59/66 rifles, but just has question marks for the M59. Dennis Kroh posted a breakdown of M59 serial numbers by year in another thread...

                      Sometimes yes, sometimes no.

All the SKS' I have seen sold in cosmoline from Big 5 have matching numbers, but that is just my experience. I'm sure YMMV.

Mark my words, AB 809 will be the catalyst that drives up prices due to a flurry of gun snatching before 2014. In the short term the bill will lead to MORE unregulated long guns.

And here I was foolish enough to think all the SKS fans were buddies...

haha. I'm in this game to own a great shooter. I could care less if it's called an M59 or Yugo SKS.

But, I tell you what. It's cool being on a forum where people care enough about the topic to fight for their POV.
