Not LEGALLY, as that rifle is not more than 50 years old. Sorry!

Also for thoughts that are not sure and you have a FFL/03, check out the book BATFE sent you. "Federal Firearms Regulation Reference Guide." Four of the five SKS were with my C&R license. The Yugo 59/66 had to go through a dealer. The Chinese SKS (that I don't have at this time) will have to go through a dealer. end
And so will ANY Yugo Model 59 (which were not manufactured until 1965).

If I buy it out of state and bring it in on my 03 why do I have to take off the GL?

The grenade launcher on the Yugo M59/66 is considered a "destructive device" by CalDOJ. So you would need to remove it before bringing the rifle into California.

The one thing you have to take into consideration is future availability. Years ago there were tons of m1 carbines, sks, svt40, enfields, '03s the list goes on. Now, most of those mentioned are gone or just hard to find. The garand will soon be on that endangered list. ARs and AKs you can find everywhere.

The model 59 was produced from 59 to 65.Is there records for the early years?59-61 rifles would be 50 years old if that can be proven. If there is no records is that why you are saying 65 because that was the last year that the m59 was produced?Just tring to make sense of this.

Yugo (yeah, I know, non-chrome lined) 59/66 shot most accurately for me compared to russian and chinese (did not have other countries), if that matters.

production records for Yugo Model 59 SKS carbines . . .

Incorrect, one hundred initial M59 carbines were produced in 1961, none produced in 1962 or 1963, the first 34,300 production models were not produced until 1964. Nearly all imported into the U.S.A. (with C prefix numbered after 34,301) were manufactured from 1965 to 1967.

Is there records for the early years?
Yes, there is, see page 29 of The SKS Carbine, 4th edition, by Kehaya & Poyer.
