    Let's talk Toks

So for a while now I've been in the market for a Tokarev TT pistol. I have an offer on one and had a question about the safety switch, since this one is missing it. Now my question is; is it essential to work? I know a lot of people that own them take it off because it was added when it was imported, so since this one is missing will it function without?
!!WANT TO BUY and looking for shooter/beater/reenacting grade German Waffen proofed handguns from the WWII era. I just want shooters, Im not looking to spend oodles of money, I just want shootable examples to play with!!

!!!Also looking for a shooter/rack grade USGI M1 Carbine (Earlier the date the better)!!!

Wanna help me out? Email me at: mauser3340@gmail.com

As far as I have been able to determine, it will work fine without it

The Import-Added Safeties are trigger lock safeties, and, as far as I understand, the trigger is all that they really contact to accomplish their function. Removing the import safety simply leaves a hole through the frame. Besides that, there is no impact upon the function of the firearm. I'd love to remove and plug the safety on our Romanian TTC, I hate the thing.

All in all, if it's missing it won't affect the normal function of the gun at all.

Fedor Tokarev designed the TT-33 in typical Russian fashion, built like an anvil, just as simple to use, and slightly better looking. The safety is incorporated into the hammer, one click back the hammer is blocked and the trigger is deactivated.
Some mental midget decided that for the pistol to be imported, it had to have a trigger blocking safety, so they were added on. The Romanian TT safety is installed by the factory, and actually works without malfunctions.
There are some Russian TT-33's that were imported before they started the safety BS that didn't get the add on thumb safety. They bring the big bucks on the auctions.
The gun will function fine without it, some remove it, weld up the frame holes, and refinish the gun.

What type of ammo is generally recommended for the TT pistol?

We've used surplus we got at a gun show with no problems. I can't remember what was on the box. I'll look when I get home.
