SKSer45: "also from 5 years from now mosins will still cost 89.99"

WRONG, I have already seen the effect. last three sales I have seen from retailers is $119.99. I would say that is $20 more than 6 months ago, when every store and their brothers sold them for $99 on sale. No matter how much there are, they WILL run out, and it will slow down. People said the same for M44s..... look at that crap. You used to be able to get SKSs for $80, yeah.. good luck haha. Plus, we all know we wont be allowed to own guns in 5 years.

My brother has one already, not to say that I wouldn't get one for myself. I'm actually leaning more towards a different gun. "Variety is the spice of life" as the saying goes :P I'll check out the Vallejo Gun Show this weekend to see what's going on there.

Of course, I don't plan to blow the whole thing. Being a poor college student and all. I'm just willing to give up a few months of meals in this case.

Gun shows are a great place to find 'different guns", but sometimes different=expensive...lol

In the semi-auto world, look for a SVT-40, or a Garand. No matter what, Mauser has my vote.

Good luck finding what you want man.

I have several Swedish Mausers and Mosins... what are you trying to achieve? 6.5 ain't cheap anymore as far as ammo, however, you will shoot groups open sights at 300m. Mosins are fun to plink, with that said, my M28/76 also shoots groups at 300m with peep sights.
          For $100 - Mosin
          $200 - Mosin
          $300 - Mosin
          $400 - Mosin
          $500 - M96
          $600 - M96
          $700 - M28-76
$750 - entry level SVT-40, probably 1943/1944 non sniper, no scope rails.
          $800 - Sniper PU Mosin
          $900 - M94
          $1000 -Norwegian Krag
          $1100 - Decent SVT-40 (1940/1941/1942), preferably a real sniper
          $1200 - M41b
          looking for 6.5x55swede rifles:
          M94 - matching, complete& without barrel extension. Years: 1895 & 1898.
          M95 (kammarkarbin) - matching & complete carbine

          FSR89
          M/96 -
          matching ideally. Years: 1895 & 1898.

If you want to spice it up and get a good shooting Mosin, theres always the Finnish M27 or M28.
I have German K98's, Russian/Soviet Mosins, and Finnish Mosins. My Soviet Mosins are snipers so, they dont count in this comparison. IMHO, my Finn Mosins shoot as good, if not better, than my K98's and it cost less to feed them.

if youre gonna buy a mauser, buy an ACTUAL mauser, not a Serbian m48, they are just not the same. id say go for either, but if the mauser is a K98 id go for that, because they are rarer to find than a mosin.

Pretty sure Yugo 48s are mausers.

And K98s were made in the tens of millions too, just like mosins. They aren't hard to find either.

I think I'm missing your point here.

Welp, after some shopping around, I picked up a Yugo M24/47. Here's a picture of it. It shot really well. Surprisingly less recoil than expected!

The Mosin on the left is my brother's.
