    Hex Mosin or Mauser?

I've been toying with the idea of picking one of those up. Thoughts?

      I agree!

What type of hex mosin (I'm guessing you mean 91/30, but you can find virtually any model on a hex receiver) and what type of mauser?

The Mosin will be cheaper both for initial purchase and ammunition, but I would never kick a Mauser out of my bed... err safe.

Don't think you can get away with just buying one or the other... it's just not gonna happen.

Trying to answer your original question, Hex Mosin or Mauser? If your talking a 91/30 or a K98 of equal condition? Having both I would say get a K98.....

There are so many different models of Mauser, you might as well have said "I'm thinking of buying a rifle" LOL

If you're looking for cheap ammo, get a Mosin and shoot surplus. Otherwise my only Mausers are Swedes, since they are the only ones worth having!!

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.

Like most folks, I have some* of each, and you'll end up that way eventually. Why? It's more fun.

Still, the very smoothest bolt action I have is a Czech VZ-24 Mauser. My most accurate rifle is an m39.

Having owned 4 Mosins and still owning 3 out of 4 of my Mausers, I'd have to say "Mauser all the way".

They're all but depleted, so hop on the Mauser train.

Depends on the Mauser. Yugos with straight bolt handles are more plentiful and cheaper. I'd go with this priority order:

                              1) K98
                              2) M39
                              3) Some other Mauser
                              4) Hex Mosin
                              5) Some other Mosin

Post pics as you make your way down the list

But on the other hand, semiauto C&Rs are becoming rare at an even faster pace. Start thinking about the SKS, Hakim, SVT40, Garand...
