pm is sent . . . please forgive it is not my nature to be "secretive" about things I learned from those who were generous to share. Just my writing skills are so limited. I can take hours to write it when I rather we were neighbors and I can just fix it in 10 minutes. Hope you find my sloppy long pm useful . . .
Besides, when I describe things that I've done. It's about my experience in this area. I make no solicitation for anyone else to do anything to their firearms. Though I don't believe anyone should be terribly afraid of fixing things . . . I also think each individual should judge their own skill level with tools and make a sound judgment based on their own thorough research.FS: ammo and primers http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...1#post10352151

The kind of difference in just the sear/spring alone can explain the difference in trigger pull, pull length, and that "wiggle" difference making no to Mosins alike. It significantly contributes to the type and amount of take up (the length of pull before the break), the tension (trigger pull), and contact the hook has against notch underside of bolt knob affects quality of trigger pull. But it is one part. And in this gun your trigger quality is the result of a relationship between the trigger, sear/spring, and bolt components.FS: ammo and primers http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...1#post10352151

I just got my first 91/30 on saturday and the damn trigger pin was loose and almost fell out. I found out later that it was normal and the stock would hold prevent it from falling out.
Before I figured this out though I found a great site for replacement parts. buymilsurp.com. They should have any and everything you want and cheap. They also sell an upgrade trigger spring to keep the trigger in the forward position. Not authentic, but I bought one to see if it helps with the trigger feel.
Next I apply for an 03, because I am hooked and need more C&R rifles.Comment

I am going to go to the hardware store because those trigger springs look like plain old torsion springs.

I figured I needed a new pin and having a spare tigger around wasn't a big deal, the spring is a bonus and may be hype.Comment

From what I can tell it applies about a 1/2 pound of pressure to get rid of the wiggle.

Do you have a link to this "all Mosin" site?

Hey bud,
Check my posts, I think I wrote something up on how to fix that sloppy creep. Be aware though, don't bend it too much or else it won't catch the bolt or will fire if the gun gets a sudden shock. Work on it at your own risk. Or buy one of those new replacement triggers that lets you adjust creep.Need Ammo Prices? Check the thread. If you have better prices and the link to the shop, let me know and I'll change things up. So far I only got pistol ammo~

Laws that forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man. Jefferson's "Commonplace Book," 1774_1776, quoting from On Crimes and Punishment, by criminologist Cesare Beccaria, 1764Comment

My advice is don't put the bayonet on. By all accounts if you do, it will be hard to get it off and that little pig sticker makes storage a bit more difficult. The slot on my bayonet won't go around the front site post. I may heat it up and try to spread it just a bit. I figure that is better than removing metal.
Yes it was originally zeroed with it on and it changes the barrel harmonics which is the only arguments I have heard for putting it on, just sight it in w/o out it.
I also am waiting for my first chance to take my Mosin to the range. Maybe sometime during the week I can sneak out.Last edited by Irish Gunner; 03-31-2012, 10:57 PM.Comment
