Sorry I'd never pay that much for a K98 when I could get 3-4 Russian captures for that price. I'm a cheapskate yes. Anyway I'd want to know a lot more about K98s before I spend that kind of money, I'd be afraid I'm bidding on a forgery of some kind. Theres so many turds on gunbroker I'm skiddish. But nice rifle

yeah but this is a special Mauser this is the mauser we put in a glass jar and just look at it. I mean the mauser freaks on here will tell you that is cheap for that! I mean sure RC mausers are a dime (use to be) but this is like the mausers of mausers! Or the top echelon such as the SS and Kriegsmarine marked.

I was lucky enough or unlucky actually to inherit a byf 44 mostly matching from a friend that died. Shows obvious use but the bore is mirror bright. Definitely my safe queen. The bastard b!tch Russian capture will be my shooter.

Is it just me, or does something seem "off" about that K98?

Did any of you read the book "Blink"? It's about how we make snap decisions that are often right, even though we don't have all the facts top-of-mind.

I can't quite place it...it's like it has too many Waffen marks and too many Proof marks that are too crisp and too perfect.

I don't know...something just seems off. But I'm just some kook on the inter-webs.

What's wrong with that rifle is it is not matching. Stock and rear sight leaf are mismatched. It's not a Luft rifle,,,, just has a replaced stock that has some faint remnant of something that may be an 'L'. On top of that, the stock has been sanded.
It's already over priced for what it is.

but looking at the 'Eagle" might be right. I don't know if the eagle marking means anything on the rifle but that looks Whermact to me (heer)
