Mauser 48 Dissasembly, i need help!

I depressed the rear part of the spring, slid right up. Now if I can get the front band off...

Un-screw it. It may be stuck. Careffully tap it lose. Cosmo can be sticky.

Did you un-screw the front band and slide it towards the front sight? Your pic shows it still on.

As your first pic of two shows. See it? Un-screw it. Slide it and the rear band forward. Now, raise your rear sight. And I hope you can see how to then remove the hand guard. Be patient grasshopper

Actually with the rear band out of place, there shouldn't be much if any spring tension on the clip.

I would try a brass punch on the pin that sticks through the forward barrel band, it may pop right out.

How did you manage to get the rear band off with the spring in place?

i popped out the pin in the barrel band using a punch and hoppes oil, but still i cant get the barrel band off

that wasnt a screw, that was a marking on the rifle, the other one was a pin

It can only come off one way, he will figure it out. I can say that mine was a pain to get off, I guess the wood soaked up a lot of cosmoline and swelled up, I took care of that but have not taken it appart since. I bought it 10 years ago but it stills oozes mausergrease every time I take it out.
