    My Bull Mosin

Hey folks, here's a quick weekend project I just completed. I had a friend of mine do some lathework on one of those TGI bull barrels and fit it to a scrap hex receiver. He chopped down the hump on the barrel and re-contoured the whole thing to look nicer, plus he even made a filler collar to fill in the ugly gap between the barrel and receiver. After that, I fit it into a standard 91/30 stock with a ton of sanding. I chopped off the stock to match the length of the barrel, Mannlicher-style and I think it looks pretty friggin mean. I still need to finishing the grinding and sanding on the belt bolt, but it's at least functional right now. Can't wait to shoot it!

Do you mind posting some close up pictures of the collar and the lathe work?

      Thanks.

Interesting piece, it kinda reminds me of one of those old muskets. Let us know how it shoots!

Did you have to do anything to get the head space right? I want to use his barrel for a project.

I didn't do it myself, but I sent the bolt along with the barrel and my friend headspaced it. It didn't seem like he had too much trouble with it though. I think he may have just mixed-and-matched a few different bolt heads and got it to work like that. I've heard that you have to carve a small extractor groove in the barrel lip on some of the bull barrels, but aside from that, they go together pretty easily.

That's going to be a tac-driver when you get it dialed in...

You should do a pillar mount and a glass bed, while you're still working on it.

Judging by how much stock he cut off, I'm guessing somewhere between 4-5" shorter. Just a "WAG" though...
