I wonder if "unfired?" with a question mark is as valuable as "unfired" without the question mark.

You can. You still have to go through the NFA requirements and paperwork but once that's done they'll mail the thing directly to you. I'd wonder if the transfer saves sales tax on $100K? How'd you like to come home and see that left leaning up against your front door from UPS??

WOW my mind is official blown so do you still need to have the unobtainium DOJ dangerous weapons permit to if you have a C&R?

I'm not an expert on WWII firearms, but I believe I have an explanation.

Don't quote me on this, but I believe that the 1921/28 Thompson sights are the same sights they used on the Browning Automatic Rifle, hence the 600 yard mark.

Nobody really expects to shoot a .45 ACP at 600 yards.

Yes, you still need the permit printed on unobtainium.

I had to check to be sure but they're not the same, at least not on my semi auto1918 BAR. The sight is marked out to 1500 yds and the "U" aperture is different. Looks alot alike though.

Regarding Thompsons, has anyone been to Alcatraz? They have one in a case out there, no idea what type.

Thanks for clearing that up. I'm usually not too keen on being proven wrong, but in this case it's for the better

Would you mind posting close up pics of the two sights? I'd be interesting in seeing them together.

Maybe the elevation markers are different due to them being different calibers, but are they mechanically the same?

Well you may not be wrong ....

I can't do pictures but if you click on this site & cruise down about halfway you'll see a few different 1918 rear sights. Mine is the A2 type, but if you look a bit lower you'll see one graduated out to ....... 600 yds.
