    Looking at getting a K31

Went over to my buddy's house (another Calgunner) and he show my his K31, I like the balance and unique action, went home and did the research, I guess this was the cat's meow in it's day with 1000 yards accuracy open sights.. and they are still very cheap! I reload, so ammo is not too bad as it uses the .308 bullets. For $259 at Wideners, it might not be a bad buy.. any advise before I pull the trigger? Any would be appreciated.

Doh! No brainer. Get it and be happy. Prices will only go up, so you can use that if the Wife gripes. It's an "investment." :-)

Any preference on where to go, Wideners has it for $259 w/o bayonet ($90 extra for the bayonet). J&G has it $299 with Bayonet. I know I will never use the bayonet but the ones for the K31 are actually very nice... I've bought from Wideners before, how is J&G

          DOOOOOOO IT!

The bayo is your call. If you don't care, then don't bother with it.

            J&G Sales has some.

they are astounding rifles. if the one you get has the troop tag under the buttplate, you may even be lucky enough to be able to find and contact the last soldier the rifle was issued to.

Sorry about that. Maybe I shouldn't have given you your first taste.

Did you know that the k31 has been both placing and winning at Camp Perry for the past few years?
And there's lots of cool stuff for your k31.

Still a great value for an average k31. If you like it good gamble to buy as many as you can so you can shoot them more often. Only issue is the round is not standard to U.S. like the 30-06 so you are limited to only surplus, a few foreign ammo supplies such as Privi or reloading. The ban on surplus ammo at ranges and movement towards no lead for hunting etc could effect future value of this rifle in terms of demand.

The last estimate of GP11 ammunition in Switzerland was a modest 700 million rounds left for sale or export. Its not going to run out anytime soon. Its no longer produced in Switzerland but there are now three other manufacturers of the caliber.

My K-31 likes the hornady ammo, dunno if they make it themselves or not but its pretty good.

As stated you will not be sorry, it's a good shooting rifle.
