    which SKS is better?

I'm looking for an SKS that is reliable, sturdy, and long lasting. Not so much for it's collectable value. I know I'll get alot of different opinions but that's what I'm looking for

I have one that looks like it has been through H and back. It's a Romanian.
    Still shoots pretty good.

Don't get one of those Yugos with the compensators. I got one from Turners a few years ago. They are new but the Calif compensator throws the balance way off.

Yugo m59/66, or one of the chinese ones. If you don't like the muzzle break on the Yugo, you can remove it.

I have a Yugo; I didn't care for the balance but remove the bayonet and you're good to go. Or that ugly fake flash hider that they replaced the grenade launcher with. Some folks don't mind it. Mine's intact for now.

Mine is 100% unused, beautiful in and out. It isn't an adorable stock like a Russkie or a Romanian but it oiled up nicely and it's the blonde beauty in my C and R stable.

          I wouldn't trade it.

I would avoid the Yugo 59/66 since it seems to weigh about 10 lbs more then a regular SKS.

The Yugo's built their SKS's beefier than the other countries. They could'nt replace them as easy as say, the USSR could. Their m59s and m59/66s had to last longer.

                        and factory pinned.
Not hard to remove though. I pulled mine and recrowned it. Still weighs a ton.

                        I would just avoid yugos.
Anyone want to buy a yugo?

I like my Yugo. Yeah it weighs a lot, but you get use to it quick. People would tell me Garands weigh a ton and are unweildy and this and that. By the time I got my Garand I didn't feel the weight at all. I was so use to the Yugo that size/weight isn't an issue anymore.

When I shoot my friends AR's they feel so much lighter, especially my mossberg 500, that thing feels as light as a feather!

I think you will be happy with the Yugo. Like an above poster said, they couldn't replace their weapons like the other combloc countires, so they had to build all their firearms to last. Some would even argue that the workmanship of Yugo SKS' and AK's are superior in quality to even the Russian stuff.

but if i have researched correctly, the yugo's do not have a chrome lined barrel or bore. so when picking make sure you dont get one that is pitted and rusty.

that is the only reason i am staying away from a yugo sks and am staying with my chi-com one
