Even if the rifles were transferred at a FFL dealer via PPT there is no way to know if they have been reported as stolen. Remember in California no serial number information is used in the DROS process for rifles. On the federal 4473 the serial number is listed, however at no time is the serial number run though any type of computer system to check if to see if it has at any time been reported as stolen.

The other friend is what's commonly referred to as a FUDtard. I'd consider him a troll. Rifles are not registered (exception are Registered Assault Weapons). When you DROS (dealer registration of SALE) a long gun they don't even inculde the serial number so it's the transaction that is noted.

Tell friend 1 to chill out. If he feels like the sources of the SKS's were shady he can have the PD run the S/N's to check. Then he should re-think buying guns from the back of a lowrider. Then tell friend 1's friend (FUDtardo) to STFU if he doesn't know what he's talking about.

You can be a wise***** to the FUDtard and ask him to cite the penal code section that states shooting an unregistered rifle is 1) illegal and 2) a jailable offense. I'd put money down on him not even knowing that legality is outlined in the penal code. He probably thinks it's outlined in the penile code.

        Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

OK, I just Googled FUDtard and this guy's photo comes up under images. So I guess we all know what a FUDtard looks like now.

Everything is in the California PC and from the BATFE.

But the best way to go is to simply ask here. If someone is wrong, someone else will correct them, and it usually gets ironed out pretty quickly by an FFL if there's any back and forth on the issue.

But for the most part, 03 laws are pretty clear and actually make sense.

Running the serial number is a bad idea for several reasons. Soviet arms reused serial numbers each year. So even though he has a 1951 Russian SKS (say for example, serial number 702), it won't be reported as anything but a Russian SKS serial 702 if it were stolen. Some other PD might just list it as SKS serial 702 (even if it's a Yugo). The recording of stolen C&Rs is spotty.

So say someone had a 1952 Russian SKS serial 702 stolen...your friend could lose their rifle because of sloppy bookkeeping.

He shouldn't worry about it. He should enjoy his legally purchased rifle and move on.

                          I wouldn't do it.

If you are concerned that they may be stolen, just ask your local PD to run them through their database. What the cops see is all that matters, and I guarantee that "hotgunz" (it's spelled with a "z") doesn't have access to everything the PD has access to.
They have only about 2600 guns in their database. They only know what is reported to them.

It's worthless.... and I have a problem with "companies" that use "z" in place of "s" anyways... especially when "hot-guns.com" is available.

this is pure FUD... remember your friend has to give CONSENT for an officer to even run the SNs to determine if they are stolen.... assuming he isnt doing something illegal with them.

If he "thought" they might be stolen at the tiem of purchase he should have just walked away
