Does he not trust the people he bought from?

If that's the case maybe he should reconsider who he buys guns from.

OK, I'm done being a smart*$$. He can call his local PD and ask them to run the numbers. They will probably want him to bring them in first, if they are stolen he will have to surrender them.
    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

It's FUD. No need to register the rifles.

                  Correcting you.

If they are over 50 years old and a rifle, they are C&R, and can be transferred FTF between private parties within the state of CA, providing that the purchaser can legally own said rifles.

If he's that worried or paranoid, do the transfer through an FFL next time.

Primary advantages that an 03FFL has in California:

Ability to have long guns shipped to his door from out of state.
Ability to personally buy C&R guns (long and hand) out of state and bring them home.
                          Dealer discounts!

Other than those, a non-licensed individual can do anything an 03 can do. C&R transfers of long guns between California residents are cash and carry.

Ah but it gets more complicated since a rifle or handgun can be C&R but not 50 years old. CA law says that a long gun that is 50 years or older does not require DROS.

A 50+ year old rifle in CA is Cash and Carry in CA; you should be specific for Face to Face transfers since the nomenclature C&R tends to be used improperly instead of Cash and Carry.

C&R does not always mean Cash and Carry.
