TRAP55 what can you tell me about my Grampes 1897 SN 326479? I wish the internet was around before he passed, I have found information on a few of his guns that would have made him happy.Originally posted by EpaphroditusSituational awareness is not part of common core.Comment

[QUOTE=TRAP55;8023151]A 6 pack "and" a keyboard cleaning!
That's in pretty good shape, I hope it gets "fed" on a regular basis. That serial under the buttplate, does it look like it was stamped? And are the numbers the same font and size as the ones on the tang?.QUOTE]
I fire it everytime Im out shooting, Also fun to watch others take a try and not expect the weight compared to other firearms.
The # under the buttplate is stamped but will have to get back to you on the font as it is put away at the moment.Comment

[QUOTE=VooDooV;8026093]10-4.....Assembly code numbers are usually what's found stamped on the wood, the side of the lower tang, etc....but there's been a couple of rifles with the serial stamped in the tang area of the stock....looks factory, but trying to find out if it was, was it only a certain production run, etc.A 6 pack "and" a keyboard cleaning!

Did Winchester make the Sears .30-30? Any way to track the date on them?With all this "gun control" talk, I've not heard one politician say how they plan on taking guns from criminals, just law abiding Citizens.

TrapOnce you do shoot it, you'll never let it go that long again.
I've got a bunch of stuff I haven't had time to shoot yet but I imagine you're right about the 1876. I'll try and get some pics up nest week."I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness; I love only that which they defend.

Thanks Trap. Here's another six of Fosters for ya'.
The 1906 was an uncle. From 1919 possibly his first gun. Likely from B's (a family name) Sporting Goods, Lynchberg, VA
The 1897 was Grandpa's. A mod. cyl supposedly for skeet. It's taken a good share of game birds. IIRC a wedding present. Musta worked with six kids. It got beautifully restored with a steel butt plate in Shreveport, LA, 1962.Comment
