I think we're talking about two different things. There is supposed to be an announcement next week about a new batch.

two different thingies going on from what I gather. There WAS still garands around but the Carbines release was expected to be just toooooo big. Think most got put on backorder and told everyone they're out....which didn't jive with Orest's previous statement of 3-5 years worth remaining prior to the carbine announcements.....

NOW the upcoming announcement of the new shipment......... I think the orders are being filled trying to make room for this new shipment.
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered....

I seriously think that the CMP should limit one per person, or at least limit it to one every 365 days. Something so that they don't dry up really fast and all go to the dudes with the dough. I mean, every American citizen should be able to have one, not just if he's got a ton of money to spend on them.

IIRC it was set at 4 under the DCM then the same when CMP took over...then raised to six...now I believe its 8 (Garands) per year. Other guns have had much lower limits.

                    I ain't no mmeber though

How is their pricing? Also how does the membership generally go? Do I just pay up or do I have to spend time with it (I don't have a lot of that right now...)
Alot isn't a word and allot isn't the word you think it is.

I'd really like a Colt 1903 frame, bad finish okay!
I'm also looking for a good deal on a 1911 frame or two for budget/spare parts builds.

                      12 Garands / year.

Ah! thank you... I (now) do remeber the talk about raising it to that...guess I missed the memo. TOO much to keep up with.....

                        GSequoia--
It's cheaper than buying on the market and delivered straight to your door. The intial set-up process SOME say is a pain...other say it just takes time; IMO it was somewhere in the middle to meet all the requirments.... the hardest part was WAITING for the first dang one to arrive after I ordered................... litterally I would click the update page even when they were closed just praying someone was working late and sending me MY Garand

Do it. You wont regret it.

Yeah, but these are historical artifacts to most of us. I have one, and I'd like to get a couple more for my son. I just think it sucks that some people skew the market and really make it hard for the average joe to get one.

What I really thought was disgusting was the immediate sale of CMP carbines when they were released. Maybe I am just to sentimental about the whole thing, but I'm not in this for making money, while obviously a lot of other people are out to cash in on the Saving Private Ryan craze.

I agree. These Garands should be more than just an opportunity for some collectors to make money. They're part of US history. I don't know if any of these collectors remember when CMP Garands were all about shooting at club matches and improving one's marksmanship skills. These rifles were for the common man who wanted to shoot, but now it seems the collectors have taken over.
                              Just my opinion.

The simple fact is that CMP is not in the business to make sure there is always rifles to be sold to civilians. Their mission is to raise capital to fund their shooting programs and they do that by selling guns. The more they sale and the faster they sell them is a big plus to their bottomline and it lets them have the money they need now to support and expand their shooting programs. This is why CMP allows 12 garands/yr vs the old DCM that allowed 1/lifetime! Just couldn't make money that way and that was one reason for restructuring the whole program.
