    CMP Getting More Garands!

Well, the rumor mill has been talking about a shipment of rifles that cleared customs a few months ago but until now it has only been that....a rumor. However, at the recent GCA meeting, Orest Michels had something to say about that rumor:

"Last night at the GCA banquet Orest told us that the CMP definitely has more Garands in the pipeline and teased us with pictures of trailers and containers full of rifle crates. He wouldn't give actual numbers, but did say they may have some ready for sale in about six months and that they might last five years"
The official word now is that an announcement will be made on Aug 6th

Yes - trucks are rolling in.

We appreciate your support and 'patience'.

So for all that thought they missed the boat on getting a Garand (and even maybe more carbines and 1903s)...you didn't!

I had a field grade Greek on back order since February then out of the blue the fed ex man shows up about 2 weeks ago. I completely missed my shipment confirmation.

It had a '42 stencil spray painted on the buttstock and a low 20,000 serial number. According to some websites it was made in late 1939. Does that seem right?

ETA: I'll post pics when I get home from work tonight.

They do. I went to the US Customs training for "Military Customs Inspector" in 1983 and had to clear our submarine for entry back into the US if we had a port call in a foreign country.

This is great. I missed out on the rifles before. I just hope I have the money when they get them up on the website.

They will probably cost much more than they did before. Mostly because people will pay. Hell, there will be the usual guys ordering like 6 of them. I doubt this batch will last 5 years.

I have a feeling these will be a lot rougher then the Danish and Greek batch...

This should be really interesting. Can't wait to find out what is in the crates!

I really wish they would do like they did with the carbines, and only allow one per person, at least at first. I know I can't afford to buy 12 a year, but the market gets hammered by the guys that buy 12, build a couple of really nice rifles, then sell the rest at inflated prices.

I have gotten absolutely lit up for saying that very thing on other websites. But I still agree with you 100 percent.
